Prescription strength fluoride toothpaste and no bad side effects?

I was wondering if anyone is taking a prescription strength toothpaste (eg. Colgate Prevident 5000) and how often?  Also, how long have you been taking it and if you have experienced any negative side effects like perioral dermatitis.

My dentist prescribed this 2x a day for my teeth and I'm very concerned about having a bad skin reaction.  There is no question my teeth are in extremely poor condition but I'm stressed out enough over my teeth and do not want my face to become an issue too :o!

Anyone have good experiences with these kind of extra fluoride toothpastes?

Thanks,

Sadie

Hi, I've been using Clinpro 5000 toothpaste for about 5 months and have had no bad side effects.  I only use it at night right now and my regular toothpaste in the morning.  My dentist said I could use the Clinpro more often if I preferred.  I see my dentist dentist again next month so I'll see if it has made a difference.  Barb

I take this one time a day at bedtime.  Don't know of any side effects.  I just have some bleeding when I brush but I think that is dry mouth.

I went with Gel Kam stannous fluoride, its 0.04 % but its stannous I was told that is a better option than reg fluoride. Its expensive 16.00 a tube, another thing the dentist said is they can paint a fluoride varnish I think on the teeth. But that is really expensive

I use Prevident in the morning then Crest Pro Health at night.  Haven't noticed any problems...and if it will help halt the cavities at the gumline, I'm all for it.  The last one required a gingivectomy.  Thanks Sjogren's   >:(

I just started the Colgate 5000~ New dentist~ He said to use it at night.  So I guess I will see in May when I go back if it is working or not.  I will try anything to save my teeth ;D.
