Hi  :)

I am unsure whether this is Sjogren's related or not. My neurologist referred me to a dermatologist because I showed him photos of recurring rashes and he thought the dermatologist ought to see them. The rashes mainly occur on one side of my face, round my eyes and on my chest although recently I've had an outbreak of blistering on hands and feet.

Today - needless to say - my skin was all clear. Don't you just hate it when that happens? I mean - I LIKE the clear skin but I would like the dermy to actually see the rash I'm talking about.

I apologised to him and showed him the photos. He kept some of them. He siad, that looking at them, they look like eczema and doesn't think they are SjS related but he was surprised that I had onlt developed this since 2011.

He is going to do allergy testing to ascertain whether it is contact with something or genetic.

Thanks for listening - Scottie  :)

Good to hear that you are getting this attended to Scottie. You have had skin problems for sometime now. I always thought it sounded like Excema, as I have had plenty of experience with this complaint, having had  a Daughter and a Great Grandaughter
with pretty bad Excema.
I find it surprisng tho' that your Consultant was surprised that you had these attacks later in life. I have always been told that anyone can become allergic to anything at any time in their life. But these Consultants are all different in their beliefs too.  I hope tho' that they can do something to quieten it down Scottie,
As far as my family are concerned, they get attacks on a regular basis, so I pray something will be discovered to help all those who suffer with Allergies.
Funny (not)   I have Sjogrens ,  Daughter and Gt Grandaughter have Excema, and Gt Grandson has Autistic tendoncies           Sigh.....
Please let us know how it goes, and goodluck, Dolly x

Both of my daughters have eczema. While it's hard to deal with, the advances in skin creams and treatments in just the past five years are really remarkable. Once the inflammation is brought under control with TCIs or topical steroids (if it is on your face, you might opt for the TCI like Elidel or Protopic), ceramide creams (like CeraVe cream) can really help prevent future flare ups. We also only use fragrance free cleansers (even for clothes - All Free and Clear and Bounce Free in the dryer), and always moisturize with CeraVe immediately after bathing.

I get rash like stuff on my feet but not often. Mine only last a day or two though.  I've never seen a dermatologist due to by the time I got in for the appointment, the rash would be gone.

I do think it is Sjogrens related as I never had this before. And YES I hate it when you are sick or something like that comes up and by the time you get to the dr, it is all better.

I get unexplained rashes all the time.  I have one on my scalp that has been there since November.  It itches like crazy.  I have halbetasol cream that I use on most rashes and hey will usually go away (and return at a later date). I can't put it on my head because I can't see it.

Anyway, none of my doctors believe these rashes are Sjogrens related.  I beg to differ.  I am positive they are but have stopped seeking medical advice about them.  I have been told "It's dermatitis" so many times that I believe I could present with a broken leg and it would be dermatitis.

I know my funky shin problems are sjs related, for one I didnt have any skin problems till I got it, and for another my skin biopsy showed now ultra sensitive skin that produces no oils or mucin. Funny you should post this I was about to post how now I cant even use a soft washcloth anymore without it feeling like sandpaper rubbing across my skin. After taking a shower I am left with raw splotchy welty skin that kinda burns.

It make sense though if you think about it, oil and other stuff made by the glands in the skin that lubricate and protect, are shut down by sjs just like salivary / eye glands. Hate this disease so much
