Okay...I haven't had a migraine in years..though I used to get them.

I am suddenly in the midst of an aura with crazy flashing lights. Do others have migraines that they can absolutely attribute to Sjogrens?
I have only a slight headache at the moment.  Don't know if it just a random occurrence that has nothing to do with Sjogren's or there could be a connection.

Thanks.

It could be menopause.  I had aura occular migraines occasionally even before SJS, but after menopause. No migraines before menopause.  Could be changing hormones.  For me low blood sugar and overexcercing are triggers now as well.

I take two extra strength acetaminophen and wait and it never develops into full blown migraine. It just goes away. Thank goodness.

Nope, I did that at 22 y/o when I had a complete hysterectomy (very weird to be comparing hot flashes with your Mom at 22 btw).

Sounds like the migraines I used to have in the mid 80's. They would also leave trails. I could not stand sound. We had a dark, warm room in the basement that I lived in for days at a time. I was not allowed pain killers. All I had for pain management was meditation at that time.

I get ocular migraines. No headache but crazy flashing jagged lights and partial vision loss for about 30 minutes then it's all over and done with. Very inconvenient but completely harmless. Is this similar to what you get? No one has ever suggested it is related to sjogren's.

I have suffered from migraine auras for the last 18 years or so (preceding my Sjogren's symptoms by many years). I get jagged lights blocking up to 50 % of my vision and they usually last no more than 45 minutes. They are never associated with a headache or nausea in me. The first one lasted much longer than this and spread across 90% of my vision so I was sent to a neurologist for a check up. He told me that the aura part of a migraine is caused by vessel constriction and the headache by vessel dilation in the brain so some people have one or the other and some have both. He gave me a script for a sublingual tablet to have if the auras became frequent and/or too annoying. I am fairly sure this was something usually prescribed for angina. I never tried it out as I only have one every 4-6 months, except during both my pregnancies when they came much more frequently. I don't know yet what will happen at menopause :)

I get migraine with aura's all the time..never did before my hysterectomy and now menopause...I used to get them once a month before my cycle, and that was it. With these migraines, I also get severe neuro issues..my whole entire left side goes numb, I get very aggitated and shaky, and my moods horrible..guessing its from drop in estrogen. Its very scary. Im taking a low dose bio-estrogen cream, but it doesnt help and Im also concerned about having lupus as well...hormones and autoimmune dont mix very well...for me anyways.

I think SS plays a small part in these...usually, its hormones. I find as soon I as I get the flashes, I pop 1 motrin, tylenol, and some
medrol and can catch some of them early before they become full blown. I also notice the triggers now, like dairy, chocolate, bright lights, allergies too....its a constant battle!!! ughhhhh
