Increased inflammation from iron?

I have had low iron levels but no anemia. At a low point in my life this november/december with a bad doctor I started on iron supplements and have been on them ever since.

Could that be what's messing up my body now (pain, neuropathy etc)? I can find plenty of studies showing iron to cause inflammation. But have any of you experienced it personally and can tell me more?
