Under eye/cheek bone edema anyone?

I have had these edemas/puffiness that I can't make sense off.

Under each eye I have a crescent shape swelling. It's not the lower eyelid but further down. It's like on the cheekbone but close to the eye. Right under my pupils I have this red blood vessels showing or something. I look awful, but I'm mostly wondering what it is? Mostly because its so constant. It came a year ago and it hasn't changed since.

I also have general swelling in my face around my eyes that come and go but this is so constant!

PS. Hi, I'm new - should I make a "Hello" thread, and where? Can't find a place for it

Is it under both eyes, or just one? Does it look rather like you got punched in the eye?

It could be cellulitis. If so you will need to get some antiobiotic treatment.

It's under both. Quite symmetric and a slight bit blueish

Howdy Myshkin, the puffiness you describe sounds like Periorbital puffiness.  It can be caused by many things.  Diet, lack of sleep, allergies.  Go to your doctor and have it checked out.  It's better to be safe than sorry.

My very wonderful rheumatologist has seen it and said "nothing to worry about".

Well... I am sure she's right, but I still want to know the reason! Curious I guess...

I have this too, and I hate it.  It started when my Sjogren's symptoms started so I think it somehow related, but I haven't found any way to reduce the issue.   I feel it makes me look sickly.  It also seems much worse in the morning so I wonder if it could have something to do with acid reflux.

Chris - that is an interesting thought. I do suspect I have troubles with that
