Restasis dose

hey folks,
For those that use Restasis with benefit, here is some news.  I've been gathering studies where people have been using Restasis (most in Europe).  They've been using 0.05% 3-4 times a day for years with no adverse impact.  I saw a speacilist this week and he said not only could I increase the frequency, but I could also compound the med and increase the dose.  There are people he knows who are taking 1.0% 2-3 times daily!  Wow!  I know that Restasis is coming out with a stronger option for doctors to Rx.  So, I've uped my frequency to 3-4 times a day but left it at 0.05% for now.

have you ever tried Evoac?  It is not available in Canada, but my doctor is going to bring it in under "special something or other".  Anyone in the States use Evoac (sp?) and if so, is it an expensive drug?  Just curious...

I believe you can get Evoxac in generic now.. I only know the price i'd pay with insurance and it's only $20 a month so not bad that way.. I don't take it though..

My doctor gave me a sample bottle of 30.. I took 1 and didn't notice any difference so I still have them.. Too bad I don't know anyone with sjogren's near me I could give them to someone that could use them..

No I haven't. In Canada and Salagen only, although had I been thinking I would have carried a prescription with me to Minot to fill last May. I think it is $350 or something American but now if I could get the generic for cheaper... I wish they would bring to Canada to let us try it.

Evoxac does not require it to build up like Salagen, although some people respond to Salagen right away. I did but definitely needed the three-four months to get the "full" benefit which does not bring me anywhere near normal or a lot of saliva but I function and eat what I want and I will take it! And be grateful!

Just a heads up.

For those of us who are considering obtaining Evoxac out of country and bringing it to Canada, just be aware that if you have private insurance that covers your prescriptions, most likely they will not cover this drug even if its prescribed by your physician but you should check to make sure.

Also, any provincial health plans would also not likely cover the cost of Evoxac as long as its not approved by Health Canada.

My primary doc read about using pilocarpine drops in water as a swish for mouth dryness and we tried it for me and its great. I use four drops in a 3oz cup of water about 3 x day. Love the diffference it has made for me.

Probably not but my mouth is not nearly as bad as my eyes so I really don't want to take another pill.. I still have saliva even though it doesn't seem like it has the right consistency.. Actually the very back of my mouth and throat is what feels dry to me and I am always drinking something so for now it is enough.. If it gets really bothersome I may change my mind later..

I was thinking that I would just pay to try it. Sometimes I would just like to compare. Probably it would work 100x better for me, so it is probably better I don't even try it since I could never afford that every month lol.
