Does anyone have ear pain when their parotid gland is swollen and what can be done about parotid pain? I'm miserable. Is ice or heat better?

Hi There...
I just posted something about swollen parotids.

Mine make my ears hurt as well.  I prefer heat...But I think you have to try and see what works for you.

Hope you feel better!

Same here. Mine are swollen and both of my ears are hurting. I think I am getting so used to so many aches and pains, that I haven't even tried heat or cold yet. I hope yours feel better soon:)

I've been having this a lot.. But the ear pain got even worse about 2 months ago.. Doctor checked my ears and said they are fine and wouldn't do anything else..  I went to another doctor and she gave me an antibiotic shot and a prescription for more antibiotics and it helped.. I still get the swelling and occasionally some ear pain but it's not as bad and isn't constant..

Yes, when my parotids swell I often get ear pain- and also dizziness which i think is related to the ear inflammation.

For me i use a frozen bag of peas held against my face- feels very soothing

I'm not running a fever and I'm on Cipro for a uti so I'd think if I had an infection, that would sort of take care of it too. I just know that from around the jaw area and in front of and a little underneath my ear, there is swelling and pain. I already had my submandibular gland removed on the same side so maybe this gland is flaring up as it's acting alone on that side. Not very fun. I can't take any advil because it interacts with cipro and tyelenol is not helping much. We shall see..
Thanks everyone. :)
