Ok...spoke too soon. Day one on mtx was okay but woke at 5 am today, day two, with severe pain...felt like esophageal. Took two tums and subsided. Then bad nausea which passed with a light breakfast. Now just a bit wiped out. Hoping maybe the worst has passed?

MeShell

Well that's no good, stick gal! But from what I have heard, the side effects usually are worse on the first couple days after taking it. So hopefully this is the last of it for you this week!
Also, Sleepy in Seattle said that after the first few doses the side effects could subside as your body gets used to it. So don't let it dishearten you that you're experiencing this now, it may be not happen or be much better after a couple more doses!

Sleepy in Seattle also mentioned taking 1 mg of folic acid only on the days that you're not taking the dose of MTX... That is supposed to help with side effects, too.

Doc put me on frolic acid every day so hopefully will get better. Feeling much better this afternoon so maybe will subside soon, wow that stuff lives up to being poison. Hubby is not sold on me taking it but I'm willing to give it a fair shake to make me better

Styx

Stick gal, are you taking MTX orally?

MeShell, sorry if I overdid it :-/ I want you to feel better! I can't promise MTX will help, but it might.

Well I'm glad you're feeling better now than you were and I hope you're back to 100% soon. At least, what YOUR 100% is... Right? lol.

Styx, it's okay, I was just a little overwhelmed with so much information, haha. You were very informative though. Thank you!

stick gal

Styx yes. I didn't even know it was available in injection form until I read it on here

Styx

stick gal, you definitely sound like you would benefit from the switch. You can just ask your doc for the liquid form and buy the same syringes that diabetics use at walgreens, etc. If you have a diabetic friend, they can give you the dos and don'ts.

My mom is diabetic but doesn't take shots. I see my rheumy next week. I'll ask her. Thanks!
