I have a question how many of you took evoxac or Pilocarpine (salagen) and didnt get any results? I didnt get results with evoxac and Im very sad. According  to my doc ALL sjogrens patients benefit from evoxac, if not it means that you dont have sjogrens. Of course we had a heat conversation because I know that is NOT true.

Well I have Sjogrens and Evoxac did nothing for me! What the heck is that doctor thinking?  >:( >:(

Medications affect all of us so differently. I now take salagen and it works wonderful for me (and it is also much cheaper). Thank goodness there is more than one medicine for us to choose from as to what works best for us and our situation.

One thing I have noticed, it works a lot stronger for me if I take it on an empty stomach. No food an hour before or after. Of course some people get nausea taking it on an empty stomach.

Yes, it definitely works better when taken on an empty stomach.  How long did you give it to work?  The first few times I took it, it didn't seem to help very much but the longer I've taken it the better it works.

I have only tried Salagen. I was prescribed it in mid-June of 11 and it took until November to really work nicely so that I felt "normal". It helped in the beginning to make life livable, and if that were my only choice, I could have lived with that vs. the alternative. The dr couldn't believe it took so long, but it does happen in some people that way.  Even now, 1.5 years or so later, I do not have fountains of saliva from it, I just notice (sometimes) when I take it.

I think your dr is full of crap. Can you get a new one? Try Salagen? Don't give up.

Salagen made me deathly ill (i.e., room spinning, stomach roiling), but Evoxac is pretty good stuff.  Actually, some days it works better than others. I can't explain that one!

I agree with 4Kids -- that doc seems to be pretty full of himself. I'd have to either confront him (easier said than done, I know) or leave quietly and find somebody else.

Evoxac has worked well for me, although I go through periods when I feel like the dry mouth is still especially bad, even when the Evoxac is in my system.  I think that those are times when I've pushed too hard or been through a lot of stress and everything related to Sjogren's or my Psoriatic Arthritis seems worse.

I tried pilocarpine and did get results, until I reacted very badly just a short while after the good part.  I felt like I drank a 6-pack and went to the amusement park!  It was really awful and I was home alone at the time.  I haven't tried the Evoxac yet.  I don't really have free time where I can just sit at home to try a med and see what happens.

Violet, that was my reaction to pilocarpine exactly! HA!

I was also afraid to try the Evoxac after that, but our very own Cheryl assured me that Evoxac is a very different medicine from pilocarpine. I did finally try it, and it works really well (mostly, as I said above...) for me.
