Hey,
I just figured out something really cool!!  For years I've felt like I have to pee a lot!!  Especailly at night.  I just lay down and then have to pee again.  When I go, I do pee a bit, but not enough to justify getting out of bed every few minutes.  I just can't get to sleep sometimes b/c of it! Doctors have done all kinds of tests on me for inter(something or other) cystitis???  Nothing ever showed.  Then, a few months ago, it went away.
Last night, the sensation came back with avengence.  I know what it is though!!  I had spelt bread which was wheat free, but not gluten free.  When I was gluten free, I had no issues after doing it for several weeks.  When I checked my notes, I'd had a flare of the "urination blues" about a month ago when I got into gluten by mistake.  Hummmmm....I think gluten makes me feel like I have to pee a lot!!
So, if you're having this problem, maybe try eliminating gluten (with NO cheating...even a little throws my body into a loop)!  it is worth a try?

That makes perfect sense! I went through the same thing - having to pee all the time.  I gave up gluten and my family noticed and commented that I wasn't having to go the restroom all the time.  What a relief - some days I thought I would just live in the bathroom - yuck :P

Sleepy In Seattle

I had the same exact thing for 20+ years...plus infections. Nobody knew what it was. Then I got treatment for Lupus and Sjs (Plaquenil and Methotrexate) and BOOM! No more problems!  :o ;D

I am also gluten and dairy free now...

Cooked tomatoes still make my bladder unhappy, but nothing like they used to. And I can have coffee again without pain! (YIPPEE!!!!)

Google "trigionitis" - it's often associated with Sjogren's. Creepy stuff.

Omg!
I had the same problem for years and years. It got so bad I was going 20 ,30 times a day. Saw a urologist with no help. Had a hysterectomy for fibroids and they implanted a bladder sling to help. It was a slight improvement, but since I went gluten free over a year ago , there has been a huge improvement . My husband noticed I am not getting up 4 times a night any more. Wow, who knew!

This problem just started for me this year, especially right now. I really do think it might be allergy related? we shall see. Im going prob in
for Rituxan in a few weeks, and if my urinating issues get better, will know is the autoimmune stuff causing it.

Good for you gals for keeping track..I need to do that.

I had to quit teaching due to Interstitial Cystitis. I never really made the connection between gluten and IC. I did learn to avoid tomatoes, citrus, bananas, others.

I have been GF for about 6 yrs. I was dxd with IC 18 yrs ago. I thought I was "allergic" to wheat so I avoided most gluten by default. I didn't find out until much later that I indeed had an issue with gluten.

for more diet help, go to ichelp.org or ic-network.com.

Yes, I just noticed the tomato? sure diet has something to do with it.

Also, candida or yeast can have a huge impact on the bladder. I notice when my yeast seems better (i have systemic yeast)
my bladder feels better..vaginal yeast infections can also cause pain in the bladder etc. Im sure most of us have it as well.
