Hello my friends

I have this new thing my checks hurt when I smile. Is there an explanation to this? Have a good labor day weekend.

YES! This is a huge problem for me. Unfortunately I have no idea what causes it - except it happens to me usually when I have been at work which involves a lot of talking and smiling.  I sort of took it to be the muscles being painful when they get tired, but only a guess.  I am not properly diagnosed with sjgrens, though I am pretty sure that will come.

Thanks

Cindy, I agree with the others,  seems like overuse of any muscle just makes them hurt, including our smiler muscles.  I am glad that they are getting a workout when they hurt, sometimes it's hard to find a reason to smile!

This could also be some referred pain from spasms in the ducts draining the parotid glands. I will get pain in both cheeks off and on. Can't say that it hurts when or from talking, but when my cheeks hurt, they hurt. Irish

Yup I get this too. Isn't this where the Parotid glands are?

I agree with Irish.  I think it has something to do with your Parotid Gland...good luck!

I know it's not the same thing but my daughter's jaw sometimes "locks up". It only happens when she is eating. We have never had a good explanation of why it happens.

I have to agree with the others and could I add that I get those muscles pains in the strangest of places! Sometimes I don't mention it because those that really do not get it just make that "That's strange face"!
Hope your cheeks settle down soon.  I imagine that feels awful:(

Ark mom

I have had this before.  Sometimes they will hurt like I had been working out my cheek muscles.  It comes and goes!  Hope you are doing well.   Keep in touch my friend!

Is there swelling, does it feel like the jaw joint, ?, foul taste in mouth, ?, Paratoid glands,
