quick note only....add another bone to the pile. I am in Houston,to get stich removed by surgeon and to see the Pulmonary (hopefully for Diagnosis) went a day early for ease, and nice supper with hubby and his sister and her husband. Relaxing and things going wonderfully. About 1 am at Hotel, I begin to feel moisture. The incision started leaking again after the 5 days of dry, I have no bandages, so I have wrapped a hotel towel around it and tied it on with a sash. Just checked it now and still draining a lot and a tiny spot of blood...none ever before. Blessing in disguise, that I came on down or is this going to turn out to be worse..Gotta say it has me a little more....Not to say the conditons are not the sterile ones I have went overboard and my home to insure no infections. Appointment not til 1:00 with surgeon, and 2:30 with Pulmonary...  ~sass~

I hope that was just trapped fluid that had been contributing to the pain.  May both appointments go smoothly , and you receive more answers about your lungs.

Go get some maxi pads and get that towel off of that wound. They are sterile, and the are a lot cheaper than the thick absorbent weeping wound bandages.

And see if you need some antibiotics to prevent infection!

We are all praying for good news for you today!

Well, that is an interesting development. Might well be the cause of the severe pain. Could have had an abscess that was pressing on that nerve and ruptured and drained on its own. The drainage should be cultured cause I am guessing an antibiotic is going to be in order.

Remember that you don't always have to have a green/yellow drainage. Sometimes a clear looking drainage can be just loaded with bacteria. Severe pain like you have had occurs after surgical procedures and can often be caused by abscesses. Sometimes the abscesses are labeled sterile abscesses, but the only way to know if they are full of bacteria is the culture and sensitivity. Good luck. Yes, get rid of the towel and find some pads. The towels, when clean, should have been washed in very strong disinfectant/bleaching agents to comply with regulations. It is always hard to know just how good  the hotels laundry facility is though. Good luck. Irish ;D

hey everybody..that was an interesting development.  I found at that as goofy s things happen to me..i don't have to be at the end of the country road for them to happen...lol

let me share this escopade...First we are at the Medical Center Holiday Inn in a Queen Size Kitchennete room.  2 tightly squeeezed beds into a room, mini kitchen and a bath.  We are sharing this room with my sister-n-law and her husband.  Sometime in the night, my husband sneezed and a little while later I felt moisture on the side of my nightshirt.  Then a little more,  I told Craig, who promptly rolled over.  So I tiptoe past the other bed, to the bathroom and sure enough This hole in my side is just flooding out...I have NOTHING!!!

So in true blue American Indian style...I think like MacGyver...i thought about going with Mick Jagger, but now I knew MacGyver was the way to go...The elegant pillows at this place are tied with elegant sashes informing the customer to there softness or firmness.  Wel when we removed them, they were somewaht scattered around the floor.

Being the considerate persson that I am, I am going to be quiet asa mouse...I unfolded a towerl and held it around my chubby little torso...worked well except that I had to figure how to hold it into place..So i tied one end of the sash tightly together...wrapped it aroun d like some black belt in Judo...Anyway it worked.  ...

I did see the surgeon, and she said no sigh  of infectION , LOOKED GREAT, NO MORE STICH

We are all there holding your hand when ever you need some comfort.

Love the MacGyver action!

So what did the surgeon have to say about the flood of fluid and your towel and sash bandaging? That must have been quite a sight!

There it is! MacGyvette!

So it sounds like you will have to wait a bit longer for the results of the biopsy. Will you have to drive back in or is it something that will be handled with a phone call?

I couldn't help but notice too, your entourage. I'm glad you have folks with you through all of this.

God bless you, MacGyvette

Sleepy In Seattle

I love it.... ;D (Especially the ending where there's no new complication....!)

When I broke my leg at the barn several years back we splinted it with the cardboard that was underneath a 6-foot Subway sandwich - cushioned with dirty barn rags and wrapped up in vet-wrap. The hospital I ended up at was a city hospital - you should have seen their faces, LOL - I was covered in arena dirt, one boot on one boot off, smelling of horse and manure and Italian dressing and cold cuts (I think there was still a piece of salami stuck in there somewhere...)....luckily the trauma doc was from Wyoming. He just walked in, looked at me and said "horse accident?"  ::)

Than goodness for painkillers that make you simply not care what people think...

I bet ER docs are FULL of good stories about this stuff... :o

I am so glad you are (relatively) okay and still recovering....and I hope the hotel didn't charge you for the towel!  :P
