I made it through my entire school year using only 1 sick day!!

I did not make it my last 2 years so this year was the year I was using to determine whether I need to go on disability or not. Well, I am going to continue my teaching career as this year was successful & satisfying for me.

I love my job & thanks to plaquenil, family support, lifestyle changes, supplements, great doctors, fabulous psychologist, & a supportive administrator I can continue (at least for now!)

I've made adjustments & I have a new normal which is ok with me after being bed bound for at least a year. It's not always easy with the aches, tachycardia, & dizziness but at least it helps me forget abour the dryness most of the time!

Thanks for everyone's support. I'm sticking around on this forum for the friendship & great advice. This isn't a goodbye but a I have good news  ;)

So glad to hear those happy stories!!!!  ;D

When things are going badly, it helps me to read about times when things are going well. We can't cure this disease yet, but we can treat it and live with it - sometimes very successfully! That hope keeps me going. Thanks for sharing!!!!

Wow, I am beyond impressed.  I quit teaching five years ago when I had my first baby.  I used to teach secondary science, chemistry, biology, AP Environmental Science.  I really liked my job--sort of, because I just so tired.  I couldn't be the incredible teacher that I knew I was because I was just tired and worn down all of the time.

Now, I cannot imagine going back to work.  I don't think I could make it, but I have only been diagnosed since April and have not been on meds for very long.  The problem with teaching, as I see it, is that there isn't wiggle room for taking breaks when needed or slowing down on a bad day.

I probably need to have some sort of job in the next few years when my littlest goes off to school, but I need to find something more forgiving.

How in the world do you manage?  Only one sick day?  I am just so amazed.  :)  Please tell me your
secret in case that is what I end up doing again.

Btw, CONGRATULATIONS on an incredible accomplishment!!!!
