Do my symptoms point to Sjogrens?

I have come to this message board in hopes that someone could tell me whether or not my symptoms are similar to Sjogrens. Let me state up front that I am currently under a physicians care and they are seeking to find out what is going on.

First of all, let me say that I have dry eyes and mouth with chronic oral thrush (at least thats what it looks like). I also have the brain fog, extreme fatigue (flu like), and vision problems (blurry vision).

A number of months ago, I started having a number of Neurological issues. At first I had bug crawling feelings in my legs. Eventually I started having full body, random twitches which have continued ever since.

However, the neuro issues and the dry mouth/eyes are not the worse part. The weakness along with sleeping problems is the worse. I dream all night every night and wake up exhausted. Some nights I wake up constantly and cannot stay asleep. I don't mean to sound dramatic, but don't remember the last time I had a good nights sleep. This is the worst symptom by far.

Test results: clean MRI, Clean EMG, Low vitamin D, Low Iron, low Testosterone.

I would appreciate if anyone could comment on my symptoms and tell me what perhaps could be my problem, since I assume many of you on the board actually suffer from Sjogrens. I hope the best for you.

Thanks! (BTW, if this is in the wrong forum I will gladly move it)

It does sound like SJS.  I went to see several neurologists and because of the weakness issues was worked up for MS several times.  I can now go to sleep in an MRI!  All your doctors have to do unless they already have is to test your ANA and SJS antibodies to see that way.  I do sympathise with the lack of sleep issue, which is why I am playing on my computer at nearly 1am as I am on EST.  I find it hard to get tired except early in the evening and wake up repeatedly.  I am exhausted a lot of the time and no matter how much coffee I drink have trouble functioning at work at times.  My new supervisor just told me that I need to work faster, but when you are that tired it is really hard to do.  Hope you get some answers soon.

I have the same sleep problem - I've had it my entire life. I've always said I've never once in my life woken up feeling "refreshed" or like I had a good night's sleep. I hate it, and I agree - the fatigue is completely overwhelming. Interestingly, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year and my rheumatologist explained, and then I did some reading on it, that people with fibromyalgia often have sleep disorders. I think fibro is something worth talking to your doctor about, especially since people with AI disease are much more likely to have it.

SLE and SjS with PN. ANA >1:1280 speckled,
SS-A >8.0, RF positive. Botox for migraines, Clonazepam, Zoloft, Imitrex for migraines, CellCept 1000 mg, Plaquenil 200 mg, Restasis, Zofran for nausea, Gabapentin, Evoxac and Norco for pain.

Yes, I am deprived of sleep too.

Last night I went to bed at 11:30pm and tossed and turned until 12:30am. I was keeping my husband awake so I got up and went to the sunroom and laid down. I listened to my clocks chime and the last one I heard chimed was at 2am, I guess I fell asleep about then.

I got up at 5:45am, very tired and not rested. Now I have to leave for work shortly.....and this story will no doubt repeat itself tonight.

Howdy Southof and welcome to the forum.  You found a wonderful place to get answers and support.

Sjogren's is very sneaky.  It can affect each of us in different ways and intensity.  Many people do not always test positive for it and still have it.  There is two kinds of SJS.  Primary and secondary.  Peruse through previous posts. you will find a lot of useful information.

You seem to have all the indicators of Sjogren's.  You really need to see a Rheumatologist .  You may have other issues that need attention.

I hope you will stick around.  You are always welcome here.  The people are friendly and understanding.    May you find your answers soon and welcome again.
