Brain Fog!

I've had the brain fog for a couple of years now.  I do the same thing.  Can't remember names of things and I end up playing charades trying to describe it.  Now the problem has progressed to leaving the oven/broiler on.  My husband has to come behind me and either remind me to turn it off or check it himself.   At least he has learned to help and laugh about my antics.

Ahh, brain fog.  Today I thought I'd try and help my hubbie with the laundry.  I took 1/2 of the clean wash out of the washer and loaded dirty clothes on top of the newly washed clothes.  Yikes!!  I've also done things like putting back freezer stuff in the cupboard.

I get scared when I am not sure how to get somewhere (driving, staying within a 15 min radius) and I have been there at least 6 times?

I see a word I know and cannot remember how to pronounce it? I estimate that I operate at an average of 25% of capacity. My learning curve has flat-lined...but, I keep trying.  Seems more common with short term memory, than long term. My brain was like a sponge, now it is like sand.

(I am seeing a neurologist and so far test have not shown anything. We just got control of the migraines. I have tinnitus and hyper-sensory episodes. So I am still thinking Lyme and see a new Dr on the 16th. )

No my rheumy said the blood vessel disease could show up in SJS in people with brain fog.  I also found neurontin really bad for brain fog and came off it for that reason.  I would literally hit my desk at my old job in the afternoon.  My rheumy and I did change my pain meds to do what we could about that part of it, but I need my Lyrica and am running on a lower dose to help with the brain fog.  I am interested in how and OT will help.  I understand about worrying about making a mistake at work as I am an RN and finding a pure office job is hard.  The job I have is mainly office, but I still have to do some homecare visits which I hate.

Brain Fog is so scary! When I was visiting my son in Kentucky a few weeks ago he was talking about a pain in his shin.  For the life of me I could not remember where your shin was! OMG.  He was so worried when he had to explain to his 54 year old mother what a shin was! Ugh.

Whenever I read through these posts, I always wonder why doctors do not recognize or seem to care too much about this very disconcerting symptom.  Has anyone's doctor given any sort of explanation for the reason behind what we call brain fog or memory issues?
