Hot hands and feet

Hi all,

Is it common to have hot hands and feet with Sjogren's?   Last winter my hands and feet were always cold.  Now they seem to be hot and tingling all the time.   It seems like they feel better when I take off my shoes and let my feet cool off.  Is this Sjogren's or something else?

Also is there anything I can take or put on my hands and feet to relieve these symptoms?

I have experienced this with my hands alot!  It kind of feels like they are sitting right on top of a burning camp fire and are very painful.  I do think it is Sjogrens related

I purchased some Tommy Cooper compression gloves and those have seemed to help alot.

My hands and feet are always freezing cold. I sit at work with a heating pad on the floor to rest my feet upon.   

I read just the other day about the fact that Sjogren's is a connective tissue disease. This article or whatever it was (brain fog!) mentioned that Sjoggies often have swollen and hot extremities --- faces, hands and feet.

Are you in the USA? If so, you might try a lotion I get for my first mother-in-law who's also a Sjoggie --- it's called Sarna. I think there are different kinds, but she gets the kind that says it's medicated. It's got something minty in it that cools her skin off.  If you do a web search you can even find coupons!

This happens sometimes after I get a massage or acupuncture/accupressure.

Mine are freezing all the time, but I have Raynaud's too.

Thanks guys for the tips.  I also wonder if this could be thyroid related.  My hands and feet were always cold when I was on Synthroid, now that I am on dessicated Thyroid I am having hot hands and feet, and now that I think about it my face is hot too.  Its probably the Sjogren's though.

Although i haven't been diagnosed with Sjs yet, had some tests all come bk negative. I also have fibro and ibs.

I suffer with pain, numbness and tingling in my feet and hands. But like u both my hands and feet are hot !! As well as that my feet, lower part of my legs and my hands burn, its a horrible and very strange feelin.

I hope u get to the bottom of wots causing the heat in yr hands n feet.

I talked to a doctor last night who said your body becomes hot when it is inflammed.  He said due to the number of antibiotics I've had to take over the years, there is too much yeast in my body which has led to "leaky gut".  He suggested I go on an anti-inflammatory diet for a while (in addition to taking some meds) and try and kill the bad bacteria off.  So...knowing it was going to be a long time before I could eat fruit and sugar again (I can still use stevia), I ate a lot of sugar last night.  Not sure why I did that because I normally don't eat any junk food. Anyway, I had an aweful night and my ears were burning and very red.  Even the kids asked me what was going on with my ears.  My eyes are aweful today.  Maybe there is something to the sugar for me....

  I wish my hands and feet were warm sometimes LOL it can be very painful when they are so cold. And it's annoying/embarrassing to be wearing gloves when it's clearly not glove weather for the normal population.

What you describe could be from inflammation or they might honestly just be hot from being enclosed...... but it may also be part of peripheral neuropathy - I get a burning, tingling or pulsing pain sometimes in my feet - the feet are still cold - but the nerves are firing off creating this really unpleasant feeling that sometimes wakes me up at night. Or it could be a combination of factors all converging on your poor feet and hands.

Have you mentioned this complaint to your doctors? My neurologist diagnosed my peripheral neuropathy, but I believe most doctors can easily test you for this.

Yes the hot hands and feet are really bothering me lately.  My eyes are also getting much drier and they ache constantly.  I am putting in drops every 15 minutes now.  So I think I am all dried up.  I wish there was something I could take for the hot hands, maybe Apirin, tylenol or ibuprofin?   Also need to figure out how to stop my eyeballs from aching.   Uggghh!

Plaquenil does not seem to be working yet at all (3 weeks in), niether is Restasis at 3 weeks in.

I have hot feet and cold feet, hot hands and cold hands.  I may have Raynauds, I'm not sure. But I still have another problem with very hot burning feet!  It's like my feet are inside a hot fireplace. I never know what to do about it.  I wonder if it's part of my neuropathy. I get hot shooting pains with neuropathy, and wonder if the hot, burning feet are a part of it.

My feet are burning right now . . .  I always try to wear slip-on shoes or sandals so I can quickly try to cool them off.  There have been times in a hot tub where I get in, but lift my feet out of the water and put them on the side of the pool because they are already too hot to put in the hot water, then lifting my hands out of the water . . . I'm sure made me look weird!

I know what you mean about the hot feet.  As soon as I get home from work I take off my shoes and socks and let them cool off.   I notice my feet get really hot after exercising.   I wonder if something about Sjogren's does let you feet and hands adjust temperature properly.  Maybe a malfunction of the autonomous nervous system.

I get hot feet in spells.  Sometimes I wonder if it has something to do with my sugar/carb intake - or maybe it's my body  telling me how high my inflammation markers are that day.
