Hi Mark,

Glad to see the doctor prescribed meds for you and will keep the fingers crossed that they kick in soon.

I too take Plaquenil (for going on seven years now), and Evoxac (several months so far).  Believe me, if I miss some doses of the Plaquenil, I sure do feel it!

Yeah, I sure do understand having to watch what drug interacts with another and so on...  Very frustrating!

I have been out of Plaquenil for 4-5 days now.  It is filled and setting at the pharmacy this whole time, I just haven't gone to pick it up.  So here I am....in the bed, missing my grandson's 13th birthday party with a splitting headache, a fever, and my mouth so dry, I can hear my tongue pull loose from the roof of my mouth.

This is what I hate most about my condition.....the fact that I can't mentally make myself do the things I need to do in order to participate in life.

I told my husband, I always took pride in believing my mind was my best feature and now it seems to leave me a little more each day.

I am about to start Plaquenil and am happy to hear everyones good reports.  I also have been taking Celebrex - which my doctor gave me a sample of - he told me to take them sparingly because of potential liver/kidney problems. So when days are bad I either take Celebrex or when they are really bad I take Celebrex and Prednisone....and when I'mready to ram my head into a wall I bring out the big guns like Hydrocodone which just puts me to sleep.

Maybe your Rheumy can give you a sample box of Celebrex as well.  It wouldnt hurt to ask : )

I'm sorry to hear that Belsey, that is SOOOO frustrating to be sure!  Now and then I still fight that monster and thankfully the episodes get a bit further each time.

Hang in there and don't forget the Plaquenil.

Mark, THere are some very different tests that need to be done for the baseline when you are on plaquenil. It takes some time but is necessary. Have to dilate your eyes of course to do any eye test that is more in depth.

Also, please make sure to talk to a doc before you take the NAC or N-Acetylcysteine as there are some side effects and some drugs that you can't take it with. It sounds safe, but nothing is 100% safe. Always check with a doc cause we don't want to wreck our livers. Irish ;D
