Today I went out and got our mail and what did I find but 2 Discover Card statements.  One was ours and the other for some other lady.  The address wasn't even close.  The only thing they got right was that it was in the right zip code.  This happened to me about 3 or 4 years ago but it was my credit card statement and bank statements that went to other people.  These people didn't care enough about this to see that the statements got to me.  I spent a lot of time and effort changing account number just in case the people who had them were ID Thieves.  I had my ID stolen in 2005 and had to place fraud alerts.  I would wish ID Theft on anyone.  I called the Post Office and reported it.  I hope they really give the responsible party grief about their blunder.

I keep getting Fed-X packages ever so often for a lady that is a professional musician and lives a block down the street. The addresses are clearly not the same. BUT I go over and take it over to her.

If I got mail that wasn't mine, I would at least be kind enough to give it back to the mailman.  Yes I would be afraid of theft also.  I don't trust online stuff, etc with my $$$ as much as the younger generation do.

Here is a good story for you though.  I got a letter in the mail, correct address but totally different name. Hmmm.  I looked in my phone book, called that person and inquired. We had SUCH a nice talk. It was their letter and they had originally owned the house when it was built, moved out of the city as house got too small w/their kids, and 10 yrs ago moved back in the city. I got to fill her in on the neighbors she wondered if were still around and she told me about all what they did to the house. So sometimes good things happen.  :)

I thought about calling this lady but I don't know how she might react since it is a credit card statement.  If her identity was ever stolen she might think it was me.  The postmaster is sending the postman back to pick it up hopefully this afternoon.  This seems to be a real problem with our post office.  I don't know whether it's the sorter or the postman himself.  I know that he goes through this neighborhood very fast and doesn't take the time to double check to see if all the mail is for this address.  Our mail man where we used to live always looked  to see that what he delivered was all ours.  He even asked me about some mail that had a different name on it but our address.  It was the person who we bought our house from.

Hi Madison Granny,

I really think your best option is to just have the postman come to pick up the mail you received addressed to someone else.  They can take the responsibility to deliver it to her themselves, leaving you out of the situation entirely.

Hope this helps!  ;)

That's what I'm going to do.  I just wanted the postmaster to know that his employees were beginning to be sloppy in their jobs once again as this is the third time that this has happened in this area.  I think I am just venting my flustrations.  This has been one rotten day.  Everything has gone wrong that could go wrong.

Sure, I understand.  I didn't mean to sound like I was "being bossy."  :D

You know you can always vent frustrations to us!  I'm sorry you've had such a rotten day.  When I have those I think " Is there anything ELSE that can happen?"  And sadly, sometimes there is!

I hope your Sunday goes much better, and you can find some little joy in the day.  ;)
