Hi  :)

I haven't - but I know a woman who has had a couple with apparently no extra ill effects.

Take care - Scottie  :)

I had eyeliner tattooed.....  I had SJS but hadn't yet been dx'ed.

I had no adverse effects.

And as soon as I wake up in the morning, I'm already cute!  :)  ::)

Your immune system is already compromised. Getting a tattoo is a gamble that the "artist" is adhering strictly to good hygiene. The person who last occupied the couch you are lying on or chair you are sitting in may or may not be particularly clean or healthy. As you can probably tell, I'm against it. Sharon

But the hygiene of a tattoo parlour should be your priority whether you have a diagnosis or not.

I got a tattoo after I got Sjogrens. I didn't feel any worse then I usually do. Also, I have nerve damage and had my tattoo places in one of these areas. I was great and didn't hurt a bit!

Dont let your diagnosis stop you from living your life as you choose!!!

Reading through all this info still doesn't convince me. I think some of the tatoos are cute/pretty, but as a person with autoimmune disease all I can think of is this: tatoos involve injecting a foreign substance into the tissues. The immune system is supposed to attack foreign substances and I don't have a clue what my body would do with this dye/foreign substance down the road.

People have to do what they are comfortable with. Irish

I had a huge flare up thanks to major surgery - I'm fearful of having anything invasive and inflammatory done on my body which would include a tattoo.

I love seeing well done, artistic tattoos on other people, but I know for myself I would get tired of having them on my body, especially as they can become dated as styles/colors etc. change.

I got my last tattoo not long before my SJS diagnosis (I was symptomatic, but not yet diagnosed), and it knocked me on my tush for a good 24 hours (I slept and slept and slept and slept).

I think that the stress it put on my body led to a mini-flare, so I would be nervous about getting another at this point for fear that it would give me a full flare now that my disease has progressed so much further. I can't say for sure that's what happened/would happen, but it made me wary.
