No Make Up at Rheumy Appointments?

So today while going through the normal routine questions with the Rheumy and we get to the rash section and he says "Are you wearing make up?"  I said yes, I came from work.  Then he said that next time I come not to come with make up on.   Well dang, I have been going there for over 4 years and this is the first time I have heard that.    I don't get rashes, but I will take along something to wipe it off with next time.

Hmm, maybe some makeup removal wipes? I've never heard a doctor ask about that. I had one ask not to wear perfumes, or any lotions/shampoo with scents. I think the eye doctor would make more sense, to not wear eye makeup when going in.  Weird. Anyone else?

I guess he wanted to get a really thourough look.
I have had a dermatologist send me to the bathroom and wash my face at an  appt years ago.

My rhuemy doesn't care. I've had a horrid rash with sores bleeding and he barely glanced at it. He doesn't seem to care unless a vital organ is being attacked.

I can't imagine a doctor doing a proper assessment of anyone wearing make-up, at least on a first appointment. To me, thats like asking a hairdresser to do your hair without taking off your hat. The skin, including that on the face, is a valuable indicator of hydration, oxygenation, blood levels of hemoglobin, and the overall function of the liver and kidneys.

I know several doctors who keep make-up wipes in their office.

I don't mind taking it off, but why am I finding out years later?   Just a bit weird.
