Can sjogren's cause nerve problems? The reason I ask is because for about a month now, every once in a while, I will have a shooting pain in my right arm. It's definitely nerve pain, and it will go through my arm and randomly it will sometimes skip my shoulder and shoot through my neck. Any ideas?

I have an idiopathic peripheral neuropathy. It is in my legs but it can happen in the arms. I would talk to a dr maybe get a meeting with a neurologist. It would be good to find out it this is from sjogren's or something else (pinched nerve) and also, if there is any treatment suggestions. It is best to treat these things as early as possible so that you can stop any potential progression.

Yes, you can have neurological problems with sjogrens. One of the most common problems is carpal tunnel and what you are describing is exactly what I experienced -- only I had it at night and it was beyond excruciating. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I was told it was carpal tunnel as I didn't have much pain at all in my hand. I had the surgery and that pain went away.

Be aware that you can have tendonitis in just about any joint with sjogrens also. I have had it in my heels, achilles tendon, plus my feet and toes, elbows, etc. Do not panic when you get some ache or pain as many times it will go away on its own within a few weeks.

When things linger and start to cause lifestyle changes it is time to get things checked out. Generally when things leave soon they are just a transient ache/pain. If things leave but continue to come back is another time to see a doc. Just use your common sense but try to not panic until you are told to by the doctor. ;D Good luck. Irish
