Good morning..
Has anyone had a problem with plantar warts returning after laser surgery?
Dr. said it was possible, but half of what he lasered have returned.  Wondered if it had anything to do with my messed up immune system.

I'm interested to see if you get any responses to this. I have two planter warts on the ball of my foot that are killing me! Went to a foot doctor last week and have an appointment for laser on them soon. The doc said it normally takes 3-4 laser appointments.

I had one on my left big toe for years. I had it lasered, frozen., lasered again and frozen again and again, and surgically removed over about 10 years. Finally, it was clearly going to take over the whole toe, so I had it really dug out surgically. He cut off about a third of the tissue, which was replaced with scar tissue over time. That did the job. Maybe warts can't come back in scar tissue?

Do they ever burn them off with silver nitrate amymore? That is what they used when I was young. Dr burned a giant cold sore off my lip w it when i was ten during a weird virus that invaded my mouth w the things.

I have plantar warts on ball of each foot.  I've had them since high school (a long time ago).  At that time, I had them cut out, burned out with chemicals, fluid injected behind them, homeopathy.  Everything that was known at the time.  Nothing worked.  They come and go now.

Now, when they start to bother me, I cut a circle of duct tape, about 3 inches in diameter and plop it on the bottom of my foot (put it on with your foot bent upwards).  I replace it after showers and keep it on for about 4-5 days.  This shrinks the wart(s) back to no longer bothering me.  This works for weeks to months.

We have a coexistence that seems to work for both of us.

we remove these at work. we use mostly burning and cutting. I would say less than 1/3 of patients come back for the exact same area but develope new warts elsewhere on the foot.

advice...don't try on or borrow shoes without socks, public showers and  close around pool edges where water lays..wear flip flops.

an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure  (as my grandma always said)

Well--back to Dr this morning.  The first 2 areas  came back and he will have to laser and dig them out.  This time he will go a little bigger in hopes of getting all of them. He called one on my little toe "momma with a lot of babies".  Both toes have a lot of scar tissue and they came back under and around that scar.
I ,too, have had them off and on since I was a child.

4kids:
Weird indeed!   When my lip biopsy came back , the results said  that I had "warts".  There are no signs of any type of sore in my mouth though.
