I'm newly diagnosed as of 3 months ago, after 8 years of...well I know most of you know that story.

I have been sick with sore throat, the aching, fatigue ( Saturday I slept for almost 30 hours) for over a month. It comes and goes, but here more than it's not. I don't take meds. I have crazy side effects to most meds.

Anyone else sick forever??

I'm SO sick of it.

Welcome to this site. Lots of info and friendly people here who give lots of support. Yes, I know the feeling about being sick forever. I am 68 years old and got diagnosed in 2003 with Sjogrens and diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, hashimotos, bullous pemphigoid and severely low t-cells in 2006.

I have been sick off and on since I was about 20 years old. I suspect even earlier than that. Yes, I know how that goes. My symptoms are somewhat different from you and I have never been one to sleep a whole lot---mostly cause I had a job that I had to be at.

It is hard and when you can't get diagnosed a person really gets crazy desparate many times. I just told my hubby that I was not going to die without a diagnosis. Thankfully I have that now. Good luck. Irish ;D

Hi Heather,

Let me also welcome you to the SJS World and family!  Please do look around the board as you'll find a lot of topics you just might be interested in, and lets not talk about the oodles and oodles of information by using the search engine in the upper right hand side of this page.  If you can't find what you're looking for, don't be bashful and ask away as there is usually someone around that just might be able to help.

Yeah, I've been on this tread mill since 2005 (started to get diagnosed) and I sure can understand the frustration you must be feeling.  The ups, downs and sideward moves of AIs is enough to drive most people bonkers so you're in good company here (yeah yeah I know, whats my excuse?  Tough crowd! ;) :D).

I'm sorry that you're not able to take the meds; what does your rheumy say about it?  Does he have any ideas that will help you?

Again, welcome!

Take care of yourself -

I was sick forever, too, and used to say that I was sick of being tired, and tired of being sick. Finally, after many, many years, I was diagnosed and started on Plaquenil. That medicine gave me my life back!

You didn't mention whether you've got a rheumy or a naturopath or someone who can help you figure out how best to take care of yourself.

I hope you find this forum as helpful as I have. I love having a place to laugh and cry and vent and help others.

Thank you so much everybody! I am feeling better at the moment. I've been able to do yoga the few days even.
I have a new rheumy. He said Plaquenil at first but that almost killed me when I took it before. For some weird reason it sent my potassium through the roof. I have abnormal heart rhythms as is, so that was pretty scary.
So he said let's just monitor for awhile and see.
I just got officially diagnosed, but I've been dealing with it for 8 years thinking it was fibro.
Great info on here. Things I would never say to anyone because they would think I'm cookoo are common place here.
Thank you!
Heather
