Hi Guys,

I need your help.  Is ginger tea good for you or NOT?  I've seen articles that say it is and others say it isn't.  I've been suffering a lot of nausea since being on Diflucan for a two week bout with oral thrush (worse I've ever had).  I take acidophilus daily but had used my asthma inhaler 5 times in an hour to make it home to the nebulizer.  Anyway, the nausea is driving me nuts and thought I'd try ginger tea.  However, I have many gastro issues and certainly don't want to make anything worse.
Thank you.

Blessings,
Jorja

I use ginger altoids but according to this website, it's generally safe.  There are a few cautions.  Read the website.  It's an .edu website so it's reliable as opposed to a .com site.

I fight thrush every month before my period. Something about changing hormones and sugar cravings.

Anyway, imo which is just what it is, ginger is very good for being anti fungal. Don't sweeten the tea. Drink lots of it, it seems to help keep the thrush down so if I were you, and I do diflucan a lot, I would drink it like crazy.

I have had trouble with ginger for the past 15 year. You could try some ginseng tea if you want a stimulant.

Jorja, There are prescription medications you can take for nausea, call your doctor. My heart goes out to you. I used to suffer from severe nausea and it can be pretty awful. Hope you feel better soon!  :-\

Thank you for your replies.  I did have one cup of ginger tea yesterday - couldn't tell any real difference.  Still having the nausea - it just hits me in waves without warning.  I'm going to the Internist for my annual checkup Thursday.  Hopefully, he can give me some insight and ways to deal with it.

Thanks again.  It always helps to know that someone cares.  I've had the after holiday blues, anyway.  Nothing serious, I just did way toooooooooooo much preparing for CHRISTmas.  It was fun but now I am really paying for it with 'whole body pain."  I know all of you can relate.

Blessings,

Ginger is used for nausea. I guess if it was me I would use the gingersnap cookies that you cana buy at the grocery store.

I have nausea periodically and back in the early 2000's I had nausea for about 3 years. It woke me up every morning about 4 AM and it was really yukky. I never vomited, but it sure wrecked what little sleep I got and I never did find out what caused it.

All I know is that I self medicated by drinking Sprite with ice and I dunked my gingersnap cookies in the Sprite. This tasted so good and would actually help the nausea. I found out much later that the gingersnap cookies were actually "medicinal" because of the ginger..

The reason I would avoid the tea is because many people (and I am one of them) often have their GI tract stimulated by hot beverages. Drinking hot tea could cause diarrhea or at least a bowel movement. You may not want youor GI tract to be stimulated. Good luck. Irish ;D

Jorja, not sure where you're located but where I live, Ondansetron is available and what I use when ginger just doesn't cut it.  Ask him about it.  It's what they give cancer patients for nausea.
