:'( I was crying last night -early evening (all is good now :D)..anyways I was able to shed some tears. By the time I went to bed, my nose and stuffy head had cleared. this morning when I woke up and thru most of the day my eyes HURT. they were sore, achy and felt like someone was pushing on them..has anyone else had this? Is this normal? Im guessing its because the glands were trying so hard to work that they likely got inflammed or sore?

This happens to me as well...I believe it is because the tears that you produce when you cry (or reactive tears like when you get something in your eye) wash away the good tears that your eyes require that contain the oils (the lipid layer) that keeps your eyes lubricated. This is why your eyes feel worse, very dry, painful, gritty, etc after you cry.

Hope that make sense... :)

I experience the exact same thing.  It sure adds to the crying experience when I'm able to think, "crap I'm going to pay for this."   :)  I can actually feel it in my eyes for a couple days later.  I'm working on suppressing all emotion.... (heehee)

Nope...you're not crazy...there really is a physical reason for it!  :D

I'm with all the above posters.  If I cry, my eyes are red, swollen and sore.  Some tears may come or they may not.  Eyes hurt either way.
