Any ideas for stamina - charity work tomorrow

Hello all. I hope everybody is doing well and enjoying the most festive time of the year. I just love having the tree up and all lit brightly.

I volunteered to do some charity work tomorrow, and am worried about "holding up" for 5 hours on my feet. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I am used to working at a desk most of the time, with all my necessities handy. I'll be in a Pet Supply store, taking photos of pets with Santa. It benefits a no-kill dog and cat rescue I donate to when I can - and where I got my cat and one of my dogs. (Yes, I have a big soft spot where dogs and cats are concerned.)

I am going to bring meds and snacks in my purse but won't be able to carry it with me. I will fill up a BIG water bottle to have with me. I don't want to seem like a flake stepping away all the time for bathroom, med and eye drop/mouth spray breaks....but there may be no alternative.

I hate not being a normal person. Normal people can do these things without worrying themselves sick.

Any thoughts on making it through? Thanks for letting me vent! :-[

Kelly - yes, make sure and fill your water bottle and maybe put some candy or something in your pockets to suck on while you are doing your charity work.  Also, wear comfortable shoes.

In my previous job I had to be on my feet - I would always make sure I had water nearby and I would keep a small tin of Altoids in my pocket and suck on them.  Also, prior to starting my work shift, I would put eye drops in and stop off at the bathroom.   ;)  Taking your meds is a tricky one.  I would get a bite to eat just before going into work and then not mess with my medicines until AFTER I got off work as I needed to take food with my medicine.

Unless it is imperative that you stay on a set schedule with your medicine(s), it wouldn't hurt to adjust your time this once, but be sure to take them as soon as you can once you are finished with your photo shoot.

OR . . . if you take a 5-10 minute break about 2-1/2 hrs. into your volunteer time where you can take a break and you can head to the restroom, put in eyedrops, use your mouth spray, etc.

Have fun!

I'm sure that the organizers would welcome your breaks over not having you there!  Take breaks to sit for a bit and close your eyes.  I find that if I stress over wondering how I'll be able to do something, I can't do it.  Just have to realize that I can only do what I can do at any given moment.  Less stress = more energy.

My Rheumy put me on Methotrexate for my Spondlyarthropy along with Folic Acid.  You wouldn't believe how much more "awake" I feel since beginning these.  Inflammation is exhausting!

Thanks, everyone. It went great! I am tired but glad I could contribute to a cause that is close to my heart.
