I have been referred for this Gynecologist appointment tomorrow with a new doctor due to irregular bleeding.

I tend to think it's just hormonal imbalance going on, but remember me anyway.

I have been having bleeding about every couple of days for months now. I brought it up to the nurse practitioner I last seen, and told her I think I just need some medroxyprogeterone, but she said instead I get this appointment.

Have a good and healthy day everyone.

susanep,

I'll be thinking of you as you go to your appt. tomorrow.  I know it concerns me whenever I think I know what I need, and they say "come in."  Let's hope it's nothing much and you can have this figured out.

Sending a little hug,  ;)

Good luck doesn't really seem appropriate - but I'll be thinking of you. I get grumpy every year around the time of my annual women's well check, so I can imagine how unpleasant when having an issue. I am sure they can figure this out quickly, being their area of expertise!!

Take care,

Good luck Susanep, and I'll keep my fingers crossed too!

And don't forget to keep us updated, okay?

susanep - will be thinking of you as you see a new doctor tomorrow.  Hopefully, she will have a simple reason for your irregular bleeding.

Thanks Everyone for your kind wishes. It is this late and I couldnt sleep yet. I have got to get to bed. I have to leave early. lol....If I am sleepy maybe I won't notice much. My fear is having another endometrial biopsy. I had said I would never have another one.

Good Night

I had my doctor visit over with, but couldn't post yesterday, because we forgot to pay the phone bill.  ::)

The doctor did a very complete physical on me, and he was nice, but then my husband was there.  ;D

He said that I am already in menopause, but shouldn't be bleeding. He didn't take any tests though so he only went by my age.

He is having them set me up to have a ultra sound, and then a mammogram, because I haven't had one in awhile, and to also have my blood checked to see if I am anemic.

So nothing new at this time.  I still welcome any comments. Oh and he thought being on plaquenil was the most bizarre thing he had ever heard of, but then he said, "well I am not a Rhuematologist".

I'm no medical person, but I think this doctor is wrong!  He shouldn't just base menopause on age.  I know this gal from work is 59 and still having her periods, as are some people I know who are in their mid 50's.

What is the ultra sound of?

My personal opinion here, but that's why I prefer a female gyno - guys have no clue what it's like to be female and go through the things we do and feel the things we feel.

I know you may not want to hear this but if the ultrasound doesn't show anything you really should have an endometrial biopsy. I had very slight occ bleeding at age 44, almost did not even mention it to my Gino. Thankfully I did as my endometrium was full of abnormal, atypical cells, precancerous.
Any abnormal uterine bleeding needs to be checked out.

Susan, I would guess that your gyne doesn't have a clue about sjogrens. I can't believe that he is not aware that Plaquenil is used to treat autoimmune disease. They have been using it to treat RA for many, many years!!!!

I am also wondering if the doc checked your hormone levels. This will give them a clue as to the menopausal situation. Any bleeding is abnormal when a person is in menopause and any bleeding that occurs off and on is considered abnormal also--menopause or not.

Sometimes all that is needed is a D & C or variations of hormones. Hopefully, this doc will get your straightened out. I would sure ask about an endometrial biopsy too. Sounds like he is ruling out the simple stuff first. Good luck girl. Irish ;D

Hi Susanep,

Well, glad the doc was nice enough, but I'm a little confused, too.  As I understand it, there's a simple blood test (as Irish stated I think) to check your hormone balances to detect if indeed one is in menopause and what stage of it.

Suppose he really didn't explain why he wanted an ultrasound done? Perhaps that will give a better clue as to what's happening, and he's just checking you out thoroughly.  At least there was no biopsy mentioned as of yet. Let's hope that's not necessary and they can find the reason behind all this fairly easily.

Keep us posted, and know that we're thinking of you. Hang in there, dear.  ;)

Oh gosh - you do not base menopause on AGE!  It is different for everyone.

When I first went into menopause I was talking with my gp about it. He said he had an 18 yr in full blown menopause that will never have children AND he had a 75 yr old still going strong not yet in menopause.  Age should not be a factor! Geesh!
