Feelin' good, but thyroid pain?

About a month ago I had a "thyroiditis inflammation" as what my GP called it.  I felt like I swallowed a piece of ice or hard candy and it got stuck for days. I couldn't turn my head or the thyroid or whatever it was would get uncomfortably stuck and I'd have to straighten my self out to make it go back.  The morning I finally decided to make an appointment I almost choked on my cereal. 

I was given Prednisone which helped take the inflammation down.  My GP said to let her know if it came back, we'd have to do a nuclear test to see what was going on. It might just be my thyroid fizzling out on me.

I still get jolts of pain once in a while, but nothing like it was.  And sometimes there is a dull pain like I've pushed on the area.

I've also noticed that I'm not gaining weight, actually losing slowly, (not that I'm complaining, but I don't have the budget to buy new clothes that fit properly right now) even though I'm not watching what I eat as closely as I usually do. (It's the holidays, enjoy yourself a little.) Could that have anything to do with my thyroid?

Does any of this sound familiar? I asked my Rheumy about it at my appointment yesterday, but she said I'd have to talk with my GP about it. Its coming up on the time of year I usually get my physical anyway. Do you think it's ok to wait a little until my physical? (and until my FSA is renewed?)

I guess I am surprised that you did not have the nuclear exam of your thyroid. I know that when I was first diagnosed with hypothyroid I had that test to rule out anything of concern and to have a baseline of my thyoid.

It takes some time but doesn't hurt at all. In fact, laying around on the table was nice cause I could just blank my mind out and rest. Irish ;D
