Just got back from a week away in Gatlinburg Tn and NC. We rented a very nice cabin 3 miles up the mountain and had a great view of the beautiful colors! Went to see some old favorites places and also saw many new things. I just love this area...it's my 6th trip there!

Driving through the Smoky Mountain National Park was just a beautiful sight with all of the colors and then as we got to the higher elevations we had to drive through a light snow and the view was very different but just as pretty!

It was so peaceful to be in the mountains and was just what I needed. I am so glad I was able to do the trip at this time of the year.

Awesome!  We love to go to Tellico Plains, TN.  We also rent a cabin there and just veg out.  I would LOVE to try the Outer Banks one of these years.

My step-daughter and family live in Kodak, TN.  I love to visit.  I kept saying that when I retire from the University, I'm moving to TN and opening a customized picnic basket in Gatlinburg as you leave to head up into the Smokies.  I love the area.  Dollywood is my favorite place to hang out...lol

I too love the Smokies, but haven't been to Gatlinburg or Dollywood yet.  I do love the scenery and also love the Shenandoah/Skyline Drive area and try to visit about this time every year.

Lynn,

I'm so glad you had a great time!  It's really been pretty in TN and eastern KY this year.  Must be all the rain and cooler weather we've had because our trees are much more colorful than in the last 2 years.

Glad you so enjoyed a well-deserved break! :)

I am so glad that you had a good time. I have never been to that area and doubt I will for now.

My sjoggie girl friend and hubby went to North Caroline on Monday. They had a wedding up in the mountains. It was on a horse ranch and everyone was to wear jeans, etc. very down home casual. I can't wait to see pictures. Bet they roasted a hog too.

Hope everyone got a chance to enjoy the leaves this fall. They were better than the last couple of years. IRish ;D
