Sometimes they will refuse to pay because it is a drug that is a specialty drug and spendy. I know that the docs who order these drugs should be advocating for the patient and trying to help them by filing appeals if there is a problem. Just to let you know that it helps to talk with your doc and insurance, etc.

Seems like I spend more time calling the doctors to get appeals done for drugs needed by either husband or I. Anything that is not listed in their formulary is out of bounds and cause for more paperwork. Yeaaa! UGH!! IRish

I think it may also depend on how the doc's/hospital bill it.....mine was covered because of my low-no immunoglobulin issues and lupus too.
Good idea to talk with the docs office/hospital billing first though...seriously. Also would contact your insurance company. I dont think you
want a $20,000 bill? Good luck though, hope this works for you.
