Dry and Itchy Ears and Face

Hi! All of a sudden, this past week, my ears and face have become extremely dry and itchy. The weather can't be blamed because it really hasn't cooled down here. Are these symptoms another gift that Sjogren's has given me?

This year - for the first time in my life - and I'm nearly 60 - I developed eczema for the first time. The initial onset was as a result of antibiotics (which I had before and never previously reacted to) That time it was eczema all over.

I've had two episodes since then - without antibiotics. Both episodes have affected one side of my face - causing a lot of itching and the skin round one eye to puff up. It's settled using OTC cortisone cream.

I can't definitively blame SjS though. Having SjS doesn't mean we can't get other things too.

Yea, i think thats sjogrens. I get itchy all over a lot.  My ears get so dry and itchy, that they drive my crazy.  I always have my fingers in my ears! I did get some salve a long time ago from a GP.  I have also heard that mineral oil or something like that can help. 

The Sjogrens foundation website has a list of helpful medicines, over the counter and prescription. They eve have some for dry ears. I've been thinking of getting my Rheumy to prescribe one of them for me.

I don't know how long you've taken the tramadol, but it is very common to get itchy (particularly around face, nose, etc) from opioids.  I have taken a very small dose of percocet for a while now and still get the itchy face/nose/ears/head after taking it.
