What have members found to be the best brand or source of fish oil?  I was taking Krill Oil for quite awhile thinking it was smaller, less oil to add to my already high LDL's, more powerful source of antioxidant, etc. but in the last couple months it has not set well in my stomach with other meds I'm taking.  I switched to Flaxeed oil but I'd like to get back on fish oil.  I heard a lot about Omega XL reducing inflammation but I'm afraid it may be a scam and it's more expensive then the fish oil you buy at the drugstore.  Any recommendations, please??

Hi gold,
I use Barleans fish oil and Barleans borage oil. They have the omega 3,6 and 9.  The fidh oil is free of mercury, kead and  pcb's. And i dont get an after taste or stomach upset. I buy it at the natural food store or vitamin store.

I use Nordic Naturals (Arctic Cod Liver Oil).  The brochure says they analyze every batch for metals.  Most companies do spot checks only.  They have a lemon flavor, although it's all a little too fishy for me.

I don't have a specific brand recommendation, but it's important to look for the right ratio of EPA to DHA: "Check the label for a 3-to-2 ratio?of either 3 parts EPA to 2 parts DHA or vice-versa" http://health.usnews.com/health-news/diet-fitness/articles/2009/04/08/fish-oil-supplements-epa-dha-and-ala-does-your-omega-3-source-matter

Here's a list of which brands report following safe procedures: http://apps.edf.org/page.cfm?tagID=16536

I know that there's a brand carried by Target that has the right ratio, and one from Trader Joe's (which is the one I use). Most brands don't list the specific EPA/DHA breakdowns, so it takes some looking to find the ones that do (I think I also found a brand at Walgreen's that both listed the breakdown AND had a 1.5/2 ratio)

I like Nature Made and Sundown fish oils and use them both.

Is fish oil helpful? I know my husband takes it for his heart, but what benefits does it have for SJS?
Your replies are appreciated,

Nordic Naturals here too but I take the pills, not liquid.

This brand has come highly recommended by a few of my doctors as being pure & without additives.
