Nerve pain in response to cold?

I get the most painful nerve pain from my fingers to my elbows whenever I touch anything cold. I thought it was Raynaud's but my rheumy said since my fingers don't actually turn blue, it's not Raynaud's. My family loves meatballs, and even making meatballs causes so much pain from fingers up my arm. Does anyone know what might cause this?

TIA, Cold travels faster through your nerves than pain does. It is often used to block nerve pain. I would  check with a neuro on this as it may indicate some thing that needs attention. Do you have RA? Cold will cause my RA to act up.

You may want to look for pre-made frozen meatballs.

My wife will use warm water on her hands before she mixes up her famous hamburgers. 98% meat, raw egg, and Watkins chicken soup, I do not remember the other ingredients. I know that they get very thick and juicy. (There is no filler) They get a little smaller and thicker as they cook so they fit on the bun.

I have this too, and do not have Raynaud's.  I'm guessing that as you said, it is probably related to the nerves somehow...perhaps they are chronically inflammed.  From what I understand, Raynaud's is related more to circulation issues than nerves.  Maybe someone else can shed some light...

Joe, I haven't been diagnosed with RA but will bring it up again at my next app't with my rheumatologist. That's interesting though about the RA reacting cold, but does RA cause nerve pain as well as joint pain? I know my rheumatoid factor was very high but that could also just be due to the Sjogren's.
Thanks for the suggestion about getting around having to handle cold items, but I'd rather put up with the pain than use pre-made meatballs - I make three different kinds for three different recipes and we all love them too much (it's one of the few things I can actually get both of my children to eat!) It's not just that though, it's any exposure to cold (picking up an ice cube, for example).
