Watch the items too!

I was just in the store which had a big sign - Whole Chickens 75 cents pound. BUT the chickens were all priced 99 cents per pound. I finally asked a store clerk who said - Get this folks!  "The sign should not be up yet. We are selling out of our 99 cent per pound ones first, then they will be on sale."   Huh!!  :o ::)

It's always been my experience that whatever price the shelf or sign says, that's the price you pay . . . regardless if they are selling the .99c/lb. chickens first.  The sign said .75c/lb - that's what you'd pay.

Did you get any at .75c/lb. Pisces?  I would have asked for a manager - they have more power to adjust prices.

Shade - woohoo, you got your $5 back.  I wonder if they had been having problems with other customers getting the same thing happening to them?

I usually check things out before I leave the store or the parking lot.  I understand these grocery stores have thousands of products and it would be difficult to make sure each and every one is priced correctly - but, I find errors on my grocery bill quite often.   ::)

Pisces,

I think this is under that heading of "false advertising" or something similar. Like Bucky said, if that's what the sign says, that's what they should accept as the price.

My MIL had this happen with a kitchen faucet I went with her to buy in one of the large home-builder type stores.  The advertised price had been cut by $20 the week before and we got there the next day.  The discount price was still on the shelf, so she asked someone and they told her since that's what it said, that's what she would pay.  (they took down the sign just as we picked up the faucet off the shelf)  ;)
