I am starting prednisone tomorrow for hip bursitis and swollen hands.  I was wondering if this helps glandular pain also.  My glands aren't swollen they just hurt something awful..   heat and massage don't work to well lately but yet my pilocarpine is working pretty well!  I don't get why they are hurting..

Love Sjogrens World, somedays I feel so lost and alone and it helps so much to come here and know i am not the only one in the world who is dealing with this disease..

Thank You to all!

Hi Parched,

I sleep with a warm fleecy scarf on my head all the time. ;)

And, have been seen out in the neighborhood during this summer with ear muffs on! :o
To let you in on my little secret...wear a toboggan in the house some...enough divulged!

For hip bursitis I take site injections of steroids. Swollen hands, I wear night braces as had carpal tunnel surgery 10 yrs ago in both wrists and do not want to create more issues of adhesions in wrists than already have. Much of my hand swelling I attribute to compressed nerves in wrists.

I'm 68 and beginning to have nodules in first joint of pointer, middle, ring, and pinky fingers. Blame this on osteoarthritis.

Hi Parched -  the good news is it should decrease inflammation throughout your body, not just in your hips and hands. I bet inflammation is part of the reason for the glandular pain, and hopefully you see a benefit soon.  I hope you find some pain relief.

Hi! Just wondering what dose you are taking? I just started on 10 mg and don't see any improvement yet. It's keeping me awake at night tho.

Thanks for the response newhorizons and skylar..   Guess I will dig my fleece scarves out of my winter clothes bucket and give that a try..

Jozee I am starting on 20mgs for three days and then 10mgs for seven days.  Prednisone has helped for the bursitis in the past but I have never had so much glandular pain before.  Sure hope it helps with that as the pain in my face and neck is really annoying and pain meds are not helping it.

Hope the prednisone kicks in soon for you.

When I get put on prednisone for broncitis the prednisone also definately helps my glanular pain.  Definately.
