Tooth disappears in the night.

I woke up today and something didn't feel right in my mouth.  After running my tongue around,  then my finger, I find a smooth slip of something. Looking at it, I wasn't sure if it was a tooth or maybe something that just fit into one of my gaps after a midnight snack.  Well it's a tooth and visible from the front.  GRRRRRR.  I can't call the dentist just now, I fiddled around too long and they close for lunch.  It doesn't hurt-that's one good thing.

Now the big choice will be to patch it and it wouldn't stay long as it is against the gums and half a tooth.  Probably need a crown.  I am lucky in that my insurance will pay about that much and I haven't used up my maximum amount.  I have almost all crown so I'll just add another.  Since I've kept them up this far, I won't just start to let them go to heck.  It's a choice and it has taken a lot of $ and sacrifice to get this far.  I will probably die with a mouth full of crowns.  Lucy

OMG

that is my worst dream come true.  To lose a tooth.

I have 28 teeth (wisdom teeth out at 16, before I was wise, maybe).

I have 14 crowns/caps/whatever many with pins and root canals.

And 14 that have never been drilled or filled. 

Isn't that odd.

I hope to go to my grave with all my gold and in lays and on lays intact.

Lucy, I hope that the pallbearers can lift your casket. Those crowns can get heavy!!! Just had to give you a tease.

I guess that if I had all my teeth like you do I would want to keep them up. I am just glad mine are all gone. Makes more work with cleaning, soaking, etc. but at least I am not having those infections anymore.

Say, did your hubby give you an elbow accidently during the night? That can sure happen!! Irish

I know the feeling of waking with a piece or chunk of tooth missing!  Like Elaine said, it used to be one of my worst nightmares, but after it began happening so often, it becomes not nearly so bad (sorry to say.)

I got a baby tooth (yes us old ladies can still have those) that is at its last gasp.  Dentist said it could chip or break anytime. Feels ok to me.  It doesn't have any roots and it lasted this long.  So the tooth fairy might be hovering by sometime for mine too.
