Dearest Elaine,

Everyone needs to get the heck out of your business and leave you alone to make your own decisions. Remember its YOUR vacation too.

That being said.. I dont know if you remember much about me. I'm a MESS!! Since I had my initial BIG CRASH in Jan 2010, I have been battleing major things and still trying to live a life and be involved.  I have been on 3 big vacations since then. To 1. St thomas for a week with my sisters, 2. Mexico with sisters and spouses and 3. San Juan a month ago. Before trip 1 and 3. I got on the treadmill and kept increasing my time and speed. I never got past 15 minutes and a speed of 3.3 but I SWEAR I was better on those trips and I am sure its from building my endurence a bit and feeling like I was stronger.

Just give it some thought. I know you are not lazy. I know how tired you are. I know your pain and frustration. I know how much I hate the darn treadmill. I know my clothes look better on it then they do on me. But I swear... I felt better. Ever attempting it made me feel I was in charge of my own life.

Carolina

Ah, Nancy

Just got back from 30 minutes of aerobic exercise at our association Pool.  So nice, it's just so close and easy.

I actually like the treadmill and listen to my recorded books while exercising.

I do 25 minutes, but have not gotten above 2 mph!   But you are encouraging me to up my speed.

Comments from people who understand mean a LOT to me.

Hugs

Wow, Carolina

Just like kimbo, I want to congratulate you on the pool exercise.  You go, girl!  ;) This may help you feel better overall and also a good way of releasing some stress.

You always have us here, please remember. We understand and we care.  ;) 8)

Rachel F.

I think you should skip Cuba and go to Paris. But that is just me  ;)

Carolina

Ahhh Rachel,

Our older son has lived in Paris for 26 years.  It is an amazing and beautiful city.

We've visited often and spent weeks and weeks in Paris.   9 weeks in 2008, actually: May/June and December/January.

It was a delight to take our grandchildren to the Louvre to ride their scooters in the large open spaces, when the museum was closed.    Did you know there's a large modern shopping mall UNDER the Louvre?

Once Matthias and I went on 'quest' all over the Right Bank for a Japanese book store that was selling Yu-Gi-Oh cards, when they first came out in Paris.   All based on something another 11 year old had told him.   Amazingly we found it.

To be in a new place with this group will be very interesting.

I'll keep everyone posted.

And I will try to pace myself for sure.

Hugs

Elaine

Elaine.  Congradulations on the pool and treadmill. You are a MACHINE !!

Carolina

Well nancylee,

We're flying through Canada.

AND I may be writing from jail after we go.

The embargo is slightly lifted for academic and performing groups.

Yep!!!  I am so happy you are swimming and working out on your tread mill!  You are getting into shape for your "new cell mate". And I hear you have limited time in the internet.  Its a shame since I was just getting to know you!

Hey Carolina,

Been laid up with case of face shingles and being very careful with the 'peepers'!     8)

But now I have a question for you? With Cuba just being 19 miles off US territory, how you going through Canada to get there?

Missed something in this thread, right? Help me, please... :D

So glad you are using the water to your advantage...go girlfriend!   You can do it in style and with grace!!! That is your Cuban visit.

Catch you later...I'm itching and it's bedtime! :(

Joy

Carolina

OMG Joy,

Shingles are TERRIBLE.  AND on your face.

All sympathy and love go out to you.

I would be screaming and moaning.  You are a better woman than I, for sure.

It is still part of the embargo maintained by the US of A, that most people are not allowed to travel to Cuba.

Now tourism is THE major source of revenue for Cuba, since the fall of the USSR, in 91.

And everyone from every other country goes and has a wonderful time.

However, no US of A airline flies to Cuba.

So we must fly to Toronto and then take an Air Canada flight to Havana.

Hence my fear of incarceration at some point.

However, I'm too old to worry about it, I do believe.

And the embargo is just silly at this point.

However.

Well, we shall see.

I hope you are taking extra special care of yourself.   Shingles is a vicious infection.

My heart truly goes out to you.

Hugs
