My eyes burn so bad the past couple of weeks...I don't know why...I have an eye apt. in a couple weeks. Sure does hurt.

Hi Kelly,

When my eyes burn like tby I just flood them with the preservative free refresh drops and put a cold compress on them. Phew!
Have you tried restasis? My eyes used to burn so badly for years. And I have been on restasis since Feb. And I am finally finding some relief.

The episodes of burning are fewer than they were now.

Hi Kelly,

Is this something new for you? Meaning, is this unusal? Jellyb's advice is good. Do you use any OTC drops?

If your eyes are extremely red and burning, maybe you can get to the doc earlier than 2 weeks.

It is important that you use preservative free OTC eye drops.  TheraTears, Refresh, are a couple of the best.  Most of us have to try different drops to find the best one for us.  It is best to try and use only one kind of drop at a time, otherwise you may not know which one is helping.  At night GenTeal Gel is something many of us like.

Many, many things to help us.  Like one poster said maybe you can get into the dr sooner.  No matter, it is important to keep your eyes moist.  Lucy

Kelly,
For me the burning eyes are caused by eye fatigue and/or sunlight.   Steam from a hot shower, staying indoors, taking a nap, and (of course) more eye drops all seem to help mine.
I hope you get relief soon!

Ditto Jellyb.

I have gotten great relief from restasis and wish I hadn't waited so long to try it.

When I finally got to the DR I had blepharitus.  Had to clear that up w/ ointment and daily eye wash then started restasis.
I haven't had a blepharitus flare since! :)

Hi Kelly,

Oh my, I'm another one with miserable eyes, have been since the beginning.  I like Restasis and sure will be a fight if I have to give it up, and use a ton of OTC drops too (preservative free).

Sunlight, the heat, and the wind do a horrible number on my eyes too.  Staying indoors, cold eye drops (by the gallon ;) :D), and compresses take the sting out of them.

Take care of yourself, and good luck at the eye doctors -

Kelly,

I'm glad to hear you have an appt. on Monday.  They should be able to see what's happening and get you some relief.  The doc just may bring up Restasis before you get the chance.  ;)

Please keep us updated.
Take care,
Melinda
