Hand issues, panicking

Hello everybody,

Hope everyone is doing well. I have been having issues with my right hand for a while...  it gets numb all the time, my arm hurts and as of late, there has been a firm bubble in my palm that has caused my index finger to swell and not bend properly.  Last night, the front of my hand over my vein is swollen and the numbness won't cease.  I have a Rheumy appt on Weds but might panic to death by then if someone doesn't tell me "it's normal", so anyone out there ever have this sort of experience?

I wish to suggest that you go to the ER this does not sound like something to wait for a Rheumy!

People with sjogrens can have a lot of tendonitis issues. If this is what you are having it sounds like tissue may be impinging upon the nerves. This can cause permanent damage if it is not addressed soon enough. I don't know this for sure, but when you talk swelling and numbness something is not right. You need to be seen ASAP. Irish

I echo the others in that hopefully you've been seen by someone in the ER or a clinic by now. Please let us know how your hand is doing today.

Hi!   I have had what the doctor called "trigger finger" when my middle finger swells and it bends funny.   It sort of pops like it is disjointed.  I had to get a shot in the palm of my hand right below my finger and one on the top of my hand also.  It hurt like #@*% but it helped.  Before she gave me the shots, she felt around for the bump in my hand and marked it.  That's where I got the shots. 

I have it again this week.  It hurts so bad I cannot bend it or pick up anything.  My rheumy is on maternity leave now.  I am trying to see another one this week in her practice. 

This may or may not be what you have, but you can look it up.

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful responses.  I thought I would share this with everyone incase anyone has a similar situation in the future.  The nodule in my hand is an inflammed tendon (Don't know if I spelled that right) and the numb/tingling is carpal tunnel, likely worse than it normally would be because of the inflammed tendon! Found a new rheumie today, like her better than my other one because she isn't a drug pusher, she gave me my options and said I could choose if I want to take it or not.  Anyone have experience with carpal tunnel?

I have mild carpel tunnel. I had horrible pain with it about 3 yrs ago when I worked for The House of Reps here as a bill encoder. Constant typing. I bought and wore a cheapo wrist band. It did help!

YUPPER...but i'm sorta a 1%'er...

i have severe carpal tunnel that needs surgery...WEAR THE HANDBRACES...so ya don't end up like me!!!
(if peeps woulda tol' me that 5 yrs ago when my finners started goin' numb...i might not need surgery!!!)
but alas...every1 blamed it on my shugs!!! get that alot!!! my catch all disease!!!  

but even w/surgery...i have polyneuropathies/myopathies & other pinched nerves that are reekin' havoc...
so the surgery might not even help w/what i'm complainin' 'bout!!!

usually carpal tunnel presents w/numbness in the thumb index & middle finners!!!
can cause pain & weakness but so can myopathies & neuropathies...so make sure which ya are dealin' w/!!!
