I asked my GP for a perscription for eye drops and nose spray...he said i had to buy them over the counter that there is not one available on script ? I live in Ontario Canada....

if there is a perscription one I can afford it under my hubbys benefits...this disease is expensive enough !....and we try to spare pennies where we can......

anyone know of anything ??....

Restasis is the only Rx eye drop I'm aware of.  Can you get that in Canada?  Systane or Systane Ultra drops work well for me. Systane Ultra is available at a good price at Costco here in the U.S.

I've never heard of a nasal Rx spray for dryness; I use a plain saline nasal spray - very inexpensive, but does the job.  I usually use it every morning and every night during the winter because having the furnace on lowers the humidity in the house.

I am fortunate that I was Dx'd quite early and don't have severe dryness.  Plaquenil helped me produce more saliva after almost 5 months, and it helps with joint pain and muscle aches but I don't think it helps your eyes.   I've taken Black Currant seed oil for almost 7 years (recommended by my rheumy since my dryness isn't extreme) and that has helped my eyes.  I also take 4 g. of fish oil every day now and many people find it helps their eyes.

I was prescribed Restasis and Systane for the eyes, specifically, by my eye dr, and Flonase for the nose, by my lung dr. I am also on orednisone, which is supposed to help with a lil bit of everything

Brownskin, my husband uses Flonase because he has allergies.  Does it help with nasal dryness too?

Hi Prairie Gal, not really. Flonase is more for allergy relief [runny/congested nose, post nasal drip, etc]. However, I use saline for the nasal dryness. Has he tried that, or the netti pot? [saline spray is probably easier, but the netti is probably longer lasting once the passage is actually cleansed]. I try to keep bottles of saline with me ALL THE TIME

Prairie Gal

Yes, Brownskin, he uses a netti pot every a.m. and every p.m.   He has 3 different nasal sprays (all Rx) he uses daily, plus a Claritin every a.m. and a shot every 10 days or so, depending on which types of pollen are blowing around.  Otherwise, his nose runs for hours and he gets headaches.

No, I don't know of a drop that is both for eyes and nose.

I do know a pill that is good for both.  TheraLife Eye Autoimmune.  It treats both.  Check it out.
