so i have a neuro appointment tomorrow. it's for the blackout/dizzy/falling spells i've been having, but i was thinking about running through all my symptoms with him. i figure if i'm there, i might as well make the most of it, right? i'm hoping for some advice as to what tests i should ask for.

the symptoms i have that i suspect are neurological are:

-tingling/numbness, mostly of my hands and feet
-muscle weakness
-muscle spasms

any suggestions for what tests to ask about?

many thanks in advance!

Shani

I hope your appointment goes well.
The black out/falling could be brain related.
It's possible they might want to do an MRI of your head or a CT san.

About the other issues it's possible they might want to do an EMG.
It's to check up on your nerves and muscles, check for abnormalities.

Aswell sometime a muscle/nerve biopsy, not everything shows up on an EMG.
They often to this to 100% rule out Neuropathy, there are many kinds of Neuropathy.
Some can even not show up on an EMG.

There are more tests a Neuro sometimes does but I think one/a few of these might be needed.

Gentle hugs. :-*

I would bring a list of all your symptoms, even the ones you don't think are neurological, so the doc has a full picture of what is going on. Sometimes things that seem insignificant or unrelated to us fit a pattern that the doc sees.

Let us know what they find out. I'm glad you will see the doctor so soon.

Take care,

After 18 months of frustration trying to get a diagnosis, I told my neurologist ALL my symptoms, even though I thought some of them sounded totally crazy. It was a light bulb moment. He said "Oh! You have vasculitis." I have read that you should not throw too much out at a dr as well, but concentrate on the main 3 symptoms. Maybe start with your top 3 and then see what the dr thinks about your other symptoms. It is a big help to bring a spouse or close friend along if you can. It was my husband who pushed me to tell all my symptoms. I didn't want to because I was certain the dr would think I was a hypochondriac. I hope it goes well for you.
