Hello Everybody, I am going out of town for two weeks in February was wondering if I should get a medic alert bracelet.  I have sjogren's, asthma, anxiety, high blood pressure, and acid reflux.  For the sjogren's I am only taking prednisone, asthma am taking symbicort and qvar, anxiety-prozac, high blood pressure-atenolol, and acid reflux I am taking omneprezapole. If I don't get a medic alert bracelet is there anything else I could do.

I recently bought a Medic-Alert bracelet. I had become worried about the number of conditions I had been diagnosed with, and concerned that, if I was to have an accident/be admitted to hospital, I wouldn't remember all my drugs. Of course, you can carry a prescription with you, but the MedicAlert information includes your doctor details, and all the necessary medical stuff. I bought a very pretty pink bead bracelet. Together with one years subscription, it cost me around 50 pounds sterling.

 Hi Collygirl,
You will probably be staying with some one while you are away.

so I suggest you tell someone as soon as you get there,

also you could put a letter in your handbag detailing your problems,  while travelling .

Also keep your mobile phone topped up with all your contacts at home.

Let them know each day that you are well and safe,
                                                                  Have a good trip,   Dolly

I have both a medic alert bracelet and list in my wallet.

With heavy duty blood thinners, history of strokes, cardiac problems, etc I have to make sure someone gets all the details in the event of an emergency.  The list I keep in my wallet has all meds, diagnosis, surgeries, insurance, and doctor name/numbers.   I keep it folded right next to my driver's license/ID

The paper also serves as a useful tool for doctor appt. since it's hard to remember all my meds, etc.

This past April when I had a cardiac event at home, the wallet list was most helpful.  My son just went and pulled it out of my wallet and gave it to the first EMT that came in the house.  A life saver.

At the very least keep a list with you and make sure family and friends you're with know where you keep it should an emergency arise.

52 yr old SjS, APS w/strokes, Autonomic Neuropathy, PN, Nephrogenic DI, (CVID) IgG def., Cushing's, Asthma, Gastroparesis.  Sero-neg w/+ lip biopsy.  Meds: IVIG & pre-meds, Arixtra, Aspirin, Plaquenil, Cardizem, Toprol XL, Domperidone, Nexium, Midodrine, Symbicort, Fentanyl, Percocet, Zofran

Hi,
I have a bracelet and the emergency card info in my wallet.  The bracelet  has a code on it that allows emergency personnel to get the required info bout conditions and allergies.  I got the bracelet  because of the MCAD more so than the Sjogrens.

I did not wait for my doctors to recommend doing this, but they said good move when them saw the bracelet.

I used to wear a bracelet but it bothers my skin. I always have my cell phone on me so in the contacts where it says "In case of emergency" there is a spot that says "notes" right under your emergency contact. There I typed in the diseases I have and what type of meds I'm on. I also put that in my husbands phone. It says wife has xyz diseases and what meds I'm on so he knows if he ever gets called cuz i fall over or pass out or something.
