Is it alright to get the Flu shot when where this sick??

 Hello all,

I haven't gotten a flu shot in the last 2 years, since I have gotten very sick. I don't trust what the Dr's are tell me, , can't imagine why. I was thinking of getting one this year because I have been flying back and forth to NY to see Dr's so much, and the sneezing and coughing on the plane is making me very nervous!

Is everybody getting the shot and doing ok with it?? Please let me know..

Guess I'm living dangerously too!  I have also had a flu shot, because I just got tired of hearing some of my doctors just kept pinging off the wall about it.  

Had the shot a couple of months ago, and good so far (don't go by me as I never had a flu shot until this one).

I used to get the flu shot all the time, I worked with small children and was sick a lot, also got pneumonia a lot, until I got the shot for that.. but got really nervous when I got very sick with all the autoimmune stuff ...looking back now I think I've had this mess a lot longer than I think I did!!!!!

I have had the flu shot for the last few years, like to think it has helped.  I have had a couple of really bad colds, I seem to feel more ill now when I get a cold than I used too.  Haven't had what I would call flu since getting the Jabs. 

Not sure if it is the jabs or just being a freak about hand washing.  I work with the public and have to let them use my keyboard.  I have hand gel for my hands and wipes for the keyboards and use the all the time.

I also try not to touch my face, it was a habit that I had to break as I used to touch my face when concentrating on something.

Also I use the gel after I have left the bathroom, noticed that although I wash my hands many many people don't :-)

Half my drs tell me not to get the shot and half of them tell me to get it! Last year I did not get it and my dr gave me an rx for Tamiflu and told me to fill it if I found that I had been around anyone who had H1N1, or if I thought I had it. I didn't need it, but I thought it was a good way to go. This year, there seems to be less concern about the flu shot so I got one and have been fine. As long as you get a shot and not the nasal spray (which is a live vaccine) you should be fine, but ask your dr to be sure!

Hahahaha, is that the truth about the hand washing... I think the worst is when we used to drive to NY and I had to stop almost every hour to use the bathroom, the interstate I-95 was having cut backs and closed a lot of the restrooms, so we would use the McDonald bathrooms because there are so many... well needless to say I was shocked at how many people in the food business do not take the two minutes to wash their hands after they use the potty! Whats up with that?? And then I would go out front and sure enough their they are behind the counter serving food!   OMG how grossssss! Well that discussion's for another day.

So I believe I will get a flu shot this week. Thanks for all the help, and I will stay away from the live one!

I got the flu shot for the past two years and haven't had any problems.  I think you'll be just fine.

Well I did it, went out and got the flu shot today!!!! My arm did not fall off, and I am still breathing! LOl

I went to a walk in clinic , they asked me if I had any illness boy did I have to lie about that one! I hate my reg Doc, he looks at my blood work and says "your fine go home and cook dinner for your husband" LMAO!!! 

I only go to him if my arms or legs are about to fall off... jerk!!

I get the flu shot every year, and have never had any negative effects.  But that's just my experience.

Oh boy Kamie are you allergic to eggs??? I got the pneumonia shot about 4 years ago when I had gotten it 3 times in one winter!

Boy that wasn't one of my better years! I haven't gotten it since I got the shot, so maybe it really works! I will have to find out if I should get it again at some point.
