Thought I would start a thread so we could share the fun activites we do for Halloween.

On Friday I went with to of my boys on thier class field trip to the pumpkin patch.

Tonight we went the the ZOO BOO. This is our 7th year going. The kids dress up in thier costumes and the Zoo is decorated for halloween and there are booths all over the zoo that hand out candy and coupons for the parents.

On Halloween we are going to our church carnival.

This year, no decoration. No costumes. Just candy for the kids.

Your plans for halloween sound like fun Sleepy!  Have a ton of fun and will you and the spouse be wearing costumes as well?

Don't know if I'll be giving out candy this year or not as it seems only the "older" kids come anymore (the over fourteen crowd and they are usually not in any kind of costume :().

Hi  :)

Used to make a big thing of Halloween when all the kids were young and at home. Now all I do is a bit at work. On Halloween (31st) hubby and I now lock up the house and go and have a meal until all the trick n treaters are likely to have gone!!

Take care - Scottie  :)

My daughter's birthday is on Halloween so I don't get to sit it out :)

Every year I make her the costume of her choice as my birthday gift to her.  I have a very good friend with children around my daughter's age and we go there and have dinner, birthday cake and then either the moms or the dads take the kids around the neighborhood for the trick or treating.  Saturday we went to this friend's house and carved pumpkins with the kids.

Sharing the burden with my friend has worked out very nicely for both of our households.  My husband cooks and brings the dinner.

All in all, it's almost like a mini-Christmas; friends, family, celebration. With costumes!

Grandson is hosting a Halloween party to celebrate his birthday this coming Friday!

Complete with Papaw driving the tractor and taking them on a hayride through the fields and meadow... not on main road.

And, we're talking about 7 year old and there-abouts in age as guests...   Papaw has cleaned up the cattle trailer that has metal bars all around the sides... Now how's that for safety? Plenty of hay bales complete with chaperons.  And, papaw is dressing up in his bib overalls, complete with straw hat!

Believe Papaw is as excited as the son and daughter-in-law AND OF COURSE, GRANDSON!!! ;D

NOT TO MENTION, ME... I'M TO BE A WITCH AND HAND OUT CANDY... A SWEET GRANNY WITCH! :D

Happy Halloween to All and All a Goodnight,  Oh that's Christmas!  LOL,  Joy

Halloween is my favorite and it's been my family's favorite holiday as far back as I can remember.  Unfortunately, though, this year we just moved and I can't find my Halloween box of decorations (INCLUDING my witches hat with the dancing, singing bell on the end - kids just love it!!), my son is 13 and has declared that he is too old, and I'm afraid we won't get many trick or treaters because our house is new and they haven't built many others on our street yet.

So it may just be me, a bowl of popcorn, and Jamie Lee Curtis during a Halloween movie marathon!!

We celebrate halloween at my house by going to my parents and having dinner with family then taking my kids trick or treating where I did as a child. I love halloween and pumpkin patches and all that goes along with this time of year. Hope everyone has a good halloween.

I used to love Halloween when I was a kid.  Back then ( the '70s) it was safer to go Trick-or-Treating door to door than it is now.  I live in a small neighborhood of townhomes and there aren't many young kids living here, so I don't bother buying candy or anything.  It kind of makes me sad, but at the same time I'm always so tired lately it's just as well.  I'll probably just sprawl out on the couch and watch a scary movie on TV instead.

Here at the new house we have children, parents, and grand parents coming around with bags for treats. We live in a mixed race neighborhood and some of the immigrants do not understand that it is for the children. I do not make a fuss I try to have enough for everyone. I will not put out the gargoyle, pumpkin, gourds, or Jacob's ladder this year because I do not have the energy.

Me:   I let myself eat extra chocolate.   ;) :D
You always have to buy a bag of candy for yourself.  ;D

Sitting here eating the candy we buy for the trick or treaters we know won't come. :D  But we buy candy anyway just in case.
