My GP has been compared to House many times.  He is a brilliant Diagnostician, but so straight forward that it almost is too abrupt.  He's not rude or cruel in anyway and of course doesn't have an addiction problems.  He genuinely cares, but most people can't see it.  He's even said, "excuse me. my Asperger's is acting up".  He was the one who diagnosed me after 3 yeas of nothing from my other docs.  So in answer to the question, yes, I kind of have a subdued version of him anyway.  He doesn't stop until the answers are found.  I love him!!  and House, too.  House is great entertainment, because that's what it's supposed to be.

How about advertising for doctors and medications?

Why advertise meds, so people go an ask for the drug?

I agree with Tinker. It makes for good drama on the show for House to act the way he does. Having said that, he does have pretty blue eyes. And I do have blunt, rude rhuemy that is good at his job. My favorite doc was my old gp. She was good at her job and very caring. Unfortunately she moved out of the area. That combo in a doc doesn't  come along very often.

No - In real life I would hate, hate, hate House. (Love Hugh Laurie though). Rude, arrogant, treats me like I'm an idiot, claims all patients lie. 

And based on the show's formula, you would have to have 2 really invasive bad treatments go horribly wrong before you'd get to a treatment that works.

His emotional angst is a bit concerning, I agree.

He is smart, but his communication skills leave a bit to be desired.

Yes, he has lovely limpid pools, for eyes.

I am still on the fence, but, I would hate to work with him.

Once I interviewed for a job in surgery, when they told me right out, the doctor was abusive and they couldn't keep staff, and was I up for that kind of challenge.   They couldn't pay me enough to endure that AND deal with life and death stuff.
