Off topic but has this happened to anyone?

Hi

Sitting at my computer the other day, I brushed hair out of my eyes and thought "Wow my hand's cold!" I wasn't feeling cold - I wasn't sitting in a draft but my right hand felt like ice. My left hand felt perfectly normal. It was weird.

Checked it with my husband and he agreed that one hand was ridiculously cool compared to the other.

I don't think it's significant. It wasn't painful. It seems to be back to normal now. It was just weird. Any thoughts?

I often get that, and I wish I knew what it was.  Do you also get the blue/purple color as well?

Seriously though, I sure it'd go the way of the dinosaur; I don't know about you, but I'm so tired of always being cold.  Even when I'm hot, there is some part of me that is cold.

My right hand is ALWAYS cold when I'm at work.  It's the one I use most often, for the computer mouse and the number-pad. 

I wonder if the way it's positioned restricts the blood flow?

You know Erin, you just might have a good point there!  Sitting still might be what's causing all of the cold limbs/numb areas (not even mentioning the blue/purple).

It could be the result of circulation not flowing well. I remember shortly after my first child was born my one arm was numb much of the time. It turned out to be the way I was holding the baby on that side when I nursed.

My first thought was computer-itis like someone else said.  Are you right or left handed?  I'm like the others and don't think this would be anything out of the ordinary for we Sjoggies. 

Maybe one hand/arm is resting on the arm of your chair if you have one (arm on your chair.).  Carpal tunnel, and about a million other things.  We sure are weird, aren't we?  I hope it doesn't happen again.   If it does, you might try to notice any differences in your left side or right side.  If this wasn't a serious board, I could think of lots of jokes on this, but will abstain.  It isn't funny if it's bothering you.  Lucy

Another thing that could be causing the coldness and color change is vascular spasms. That is spasms of the blood vessels supplying blood to that limb. I have no idea what could cause it but the term neuropathy pops to mind. Never know what could be next. Irish

Typing my reply to you Scottie with a very icy right hand and toastie left!  I have just done a pile of ironing ... maybe my hand is allergic to the job?!

I've noticed this for years, predating SjS but not sarcoidosis...whichever hand I'm using to write, mouse or type (occasional loss of use in one arm or the other has made me functionally ambidextrous) is markedly cold to touch compared to the unused hand. I blame it on positioning and exposure, since, in my case, the unused one is usually tucked into a sling or resting on my lap.

I get that too. A couple of days ago I used my overheated left hand to warm up the over chilled right hand. Rubbing them together got them both back to normal.

I don't have the right/left hand issue, but I have had many times when my feet have been freezing, yet the top half of my body is absolutely fine. Ugg boots and a strapless t-shirt do not look good together

Well its good to know that yet again I'm not alone!

I'm lucky. Raynaud's is not a gift that Sjogren's has given me as yet.

"Computeritis" seems the most plausible. I'm right handed and while using the mouse again - with my right hand - the same thing was happening. maybe I just haven't noticed it before.

Ailsa - yes I'm on half term - and I'm glad. I plan to sleep in every day this week and to go to a pub quiz with friends on a Wednesday evening that I can no longer manage to go to if I'm working because it just knocks me out for the rest of the week if I do. Half term briefly resurrects my social life!

Kathy - I know what you mean! Hot sweats from upper chest on up through the head - but feet like ice!!  My feet know it's autumn!!
