Had a bad day today in so many ways.  Very wierd things kept happening at work. Glad this day is over.  Anyway, does anyone have trouble with daily knee and/or leg swelling?  My legs are a lot bigger in the evening than they start out in the morning.  Not sure if this is a "leg thing" or sjogren's.  I had laser varicose vein removal about a year ago and I thought that it might help, but my knees and legs still fill with fluid or something.  Could it be with the lymph system? Any input would help. Thanks.

Do you have a job where you sit much of the day? This in itself can cause fluid retention in the legs. Try not to eat as much salt and to get up at least once an hour if not more and walk around. Also, when you are sitting at the desk tighten the muscles in your legs to get the blood and lymph system moving the fluids around.

I would think that you might have some of the knee high support hose around. If it was me I would wear those to work---assuming that you wear slacks to work.

Fluid retention is a problem for most of us as we get older, sit too much, eat the wrong foods, etc/ Also, you have a compromised vascular system just because you had some of your vessels surgically decommissioned. Even those small vessels help.

I would check with your doctor about other things that you might do to help with this problem. Are your legs back to normal in the morning when you get up. If they are it seems that there should be something you could do to help prevent them from getting so swollen. I would doubt that this is caused by the Sjogrens. I Don't know for sure, but in the 6 years on this site I have never seen anyone ask about this. Fluid retention is such a common problem and pretty much all the treatments are long used ones. I have very swollen knees and also get this problem with my ankles and feet, hands often.
Usually it swells up up more if I am doing an activity for too long. For example :standing. Then my knees swell up a lot and the redness comes, feels hot etc.
Quite annoying I must say, but Nsaids don't really help by me to fight the inflammations, maybe cold compresses could work for this?Like before I go sleep or so.I currently use gels to rub on my joints.

My wife and I have used foot patches (activated charcoal and dried apple cider vinegar) to reverse neuropathy and remove toxins from our legs. For her it has helped reduce the swelling of her knees. I know that she will have to have them replaced eventually but with the swelling reduced and the pain reduced (tones) she is moving better and more often.

Thank you all for your input.  I am a kindergarten teacher and am on my feet (on carpeted cement) on the go all day long.  I usually only sit during my lunch, but am up and down still working.  I gather from all of you that the swelling may be from a variety of things--and I'm not getting any younger.  Just hoping that I can keep working for a few more years.  I love my job, but it gets more exhausting every year. Thanks again to all.
