Man did I have a bad night. I woke up about 1:30 with a terrible pain in my hip. I have had pain in that hip since the beach trip in July. Could not go back to sleep. Tried the heating pad, Ice and a Tylenol rub. Nothing helped. Tried to walk made it worse. went on till 3:30 and I finally took an Ultram. Took about 45 minutes to work and I went to sleep for about 2 hours than the pain was back. I called the dr and am waiting on her to call me back. In terrible pain. I am thinking about calling the chiropractor. I suppose it couldn't hurt but wanted to wait until my hip xrays came back first. I guess I will wait until the Rheumy calls me back. Sorry I had to tell someone how I feel. Yeck I hate this. I tried a hot bath this morning also. No releaf.

I'm sorry you feel so rotten! I saw in your signature you already take Aleve and aspirin? Had you taken those as well before the Ultram?

Has your chiropractor treated you for a while? I know the one I saw after I had my daughter did xrays right there in the office, no waiting and going to some imaging center days later.  It would be good to know as soon as possible if there's a bone issue or if it's a tendon/muscle issue.

Best of luck!

I'm sorry that your in pain.  Obviously you have experience in what is going on with your own self.
I have had terrible results with chiropractors.  because of the Sjogrens , my tendons tear very easily.  so please be careful.
Good luck and will pray for your healing

Pain killers are more effective if you take them before you're in really bad pain. Take your ultram (tramadol) at the first sign of pain. I take tramadol around the clock. It's good you contacted your doc immediately. Never stay in pain. Hope they can resolve it for you.
I miss the good old days. Things were more like they used to be back then.

Im sorry you are in so much pain!  I feel the pain really bad lately!  The back of my knee hurts so bad and my elbow!  All I take is Plaquenil and Naproxen.  I hope they give me something else when I go to the dr on Monday.  If not, I think its going to be a bad winter for me!

LizM

I have been having horrible hip pain lately.  It is so bad sometimes, that I have difficulty getting into my car to drive home in the evenings.  The pain will often wake me up at night, also.

Joe that sounds just what I need. I am dreading winter so much. The pain in my hip is something terribe, I have never had this type of pain before. It stops me dead in my tracks. The Ultram helps for awhile then it is back. I know everyone is in pain and the winter will be terrible for all of us.
I guess we hang in there and take one day at a time.
Love you all, harlin

Harlin and Joe, What about Harlin doing the Pelvic Tilt Exercise? ::)  And, even the 'dead bug' one?   :o

Harlin, You think your hip pain is coming off a lower spine issue?

Harlin, Please don't think I'm STUPID!!! Have you ever tried putting a tennis ball in an old sock and getting in bed and finding where in the hip hurts worse and putting the tennis ball on the spot and easing your butt down on ball and see if you can 'spread the pain'. ... In other words, referring the pain to a larger and different area.

Matter of fact, think the cold pack behind my decrepit R knee has referred the pain up to my hip and MG muscle.
Will finish this post as soon as get my tennis ball and put under my hip to 'break up the pain' and trust send it to Never-Never Land!

Ah, already can feel it going to the quad muscle on front of leg.... I'll get that sucker out with pulling my leg up to my hip at knee while standing.  Then, its off to bed with for a nap on cold packs to my lower spine and heating pad on 1 hr. low setting to help w/shoulder and neck achiness from Wellness Connection rehab this a.m.

Might want to give thought to some of these TN Country Girl approaches as know you are a WVA gal...   ;) :

Looking after the little one is sure to be hard on your hips. Carrying a baby is no piece of cake!  :P

Joy thanks for the suggestions. I have never tried the tennis ball. I will have to try it. Altho the pain starts in the back and comes around to the front. the whole hip is effected. They said my xrays showed bursitis in the hip. No breaks thank goodness. I have a hard time with having bursitis since July??? Is it possible???

Joe what is "dead bug"? Havent heard of it. Don't think I can do the Pelvic tilt as I can't get my but off the ground without excruciating pain. Have a hard time rolling over. I don't think it is my lower spine as it is only on one side the left side. I am sitting on the heating pad. The ice pad makes me hurt all over.

Keep the suggestions coming. I am going to try the tennis ball.
hugs harlin Thanks!!

Hope you feel better soon Harlin - pain like that is miserable.  I agree about the pain relief - don't  let it build up.  When you stay on top of it, it means you can sleep a bit better, even if it isn't a whole night as we would like.  I take tramacet 2 or 3 times most days to try to keep the worst at bay.  Thinking of you xx Ailsa
