Does anyone else here have extremely dry skin (on face)?

Do any of you have extremely dry skin, as in skin that is so dry that even constant moisturizing doesn't provide relief to it?  Do any of you have very dry skin on your face?

Wolly, I think you will find that many do have dry skin, including on the face.  I am lucky in that regard in that my skin is not terribly dry, even my face.  Sorry you're having that trouble.  Lucy

What I find odd is that a lot of time my skin remains tight and dried out even if I apply some heavy duty moisturizer's because it feels like the dryness is coming from deep within the skin.  No matter how much I moisturize the surface, it doesn't help the dermis or lower layers of skin.

I went to the dermatologist and got a prescription for a moisturizer. The ones from the store seemed like the more I put on(and I tried every one out there) the drier my face got. It pealed and flaked off! I like my prescription moisturizer. I would find a dermatologist the could help you. I can't believe I waited so long to go.

I never had dry skin until Sjogren's.  Now, it's a real problem, especially on my face and, after shaving, my legs.

I've even had to give up wearing my Tranquileyes (I really miss them) because my skin gets dry patches just from having contact with the foam all night.  One step forward; two steps back.  Sigh.  I used Neosporin on the dry spots, which helped.

I do find that taking fish oil supplements, drinking lots of water, drinking much less red wine (sigh again), and moisturizer definitely all help, though none of these steps has completely eliminated the problem for me.

I think that I'll take up your suggestion of seeing a dermatologist, Slang.  I'm also looking forward to others' ideas on this thread.

For me the moisturizers hurt too much to be used. I have no suggestions. Thanks for reminding me. :(

Yes, I have extremely day skin on my face.  I use a deep cleansing oil from DHC (on line), which  is wonderful.  Then I use CoQ10 lotion on my face and good-bye dry skin.

My skin on my face is ok.  But the skin on the rest of me is not so great.  I use the nivea for extremely dry skin with vit e and my skin doesn't itch and I never see it peel but I feel like a snake, when I take off my clothes there are tons of tiny little flakes.  I mostly notice it when I'm wearing black.  While  we're on the topic, any suggestions for a super good moisturizer for bodies?

@Wooly - I would definitely seek out the advice of a dermatologist and explain to them the tightness you're feeling in your skin and how it doesn't seem like it goes in far enough.
