I think its a double-edged sword.  Because of Sjogrens and the respirtory problems we have we tend to get lung infections that lead to bronchitis.  So,  perhaps we get sick just as much because of that.

Aussie Mum:

I worked as an Adm Asst at a retirement complex for 11 years and had a flu shot every year.  We felt obligated to do it because the flu is so deadly for the elderly.

My GP also told me I should have one every year because of my history of sinus infections and bronchitis.  He also had me take a pneumonia shot years ago as I had pneumonia once when I was in my twenties.  I had no ill effects from the shots and I did not have the flu except once and it was for a shorter duration than others who did not have the shot.  In fact, I used to send our residents a fact sheet every year regarding the flu shots.  They used to make flu vaccines from live virus and those had more side effects than the synthetics they use now.  Check with your doctor, but I think they are a good idea.
